✨🐾 An Evening of Learning, Growth, and Partnership 🐾✨

At Qualivets Veterinary Clinic, we believe that providing the best care for our patients begins with continuously expanding our knowledge and staying updated with the latest developments in veterinary medicine.

We would like to sincerely thank Ma’am Mercy, Doc Jomer, and Sir Lorenzo of Elanco Philippines for spending the evening with the Qualivets Team and for conducting a highly informative product presentation last night, featuring the newly launched Credelio Plus® and other Elanco products.

Your insights and expertise have provided our veterinarians and support staff with valuable knowledge that will help us make informed decisions and deliver better preventive healthcare solutions for our patients.

Educational sessions such as these help our team:
🐾 Stay updated on the latest veterinary products and innovations

🐾 Enhance client education and recommendations

Almost 100% of pets exposed to minoxidil required hospitalization in a recent report, and all reported deaths occurred in cats. Most cats were exposed through contact with treated humans, including licking their owner's skin or exposure to contaminated bedding, while most dogs were exposed through exploratory behavior, such as rummaging through trash.

Minoxidil is a commonly used hair regrowth medication, but it can be highly toxic to pets. Signs of poisoning may develop within 30 minutes of exposure and include loss of appetite, lethargy, difficulty breathing, weakness, rapid heart rate, and fluid accumulation in the lungs.

Of the 94 reported cases reviewed, 68 involved cats and 26 involved dogs. Approximately 15% of exposed cats died, highlighting their increased susceptibility to minoxidil toxicity.

Pet owners using minoxidil should take precautions to prevent exposure. Wash hands thoroughly after application, prevent pets from licking treated skin, avoid allowing pets access to contaminated pillows or bedding, and store products securely out of reach.

Any suspected exposure should prompt immediate veterinary attention.

🦷🐱 FULL-MOUTH EXTRACTION FOR CHRONIC RECURRENT GINGIVITIS 🐱🦷

This adult cat has been suffering from chronic recurrent gingivitis, a painful condition causing persistent inflammation of the gums, difficulty eating, bad breath, and oral discomfort.

Despite medical management, the inflammation continued to recur. To provide long-term pain relief and improve quality of life, a full-mouth extraction was performed.

Many pet owners are surprised to learn that cats can live very comfortably without teeth. In fact, most cats eat better, groom better, and become more active once the source of chronic oral pain is removed.

✅ Full-mouth extraction performed under general anesthesia
✅ Diseased teeth successfully removed
✅ Pain management and supportive care provided
✅ Expected improvement in comfort and appetite during recovery

Early signs of dental disease in cats may include:
🔹 Bad breath
🔹 Drooling
🔹 Difficulty eating
🔹 Pawing at the mouth
🔹 Weight loss
🔹 Red or bleeding gums

Don’t ignore dental problems—our pets often suffer in silence.

A swelling on the neck may look simple, but sometimes surgery is the only solution. 🐶✂️

Today’s case: Left Sialoadenectomy (removal of the mandibular and sublingual salivary glands) due to a salivary mucocele.

With careful dissection and complete gland removal, we were able to eliminate the source of saliva leakage and give this patient the best chance for a full recovery. ❤️🐾

Every successful surgery is a team effort, and every patient reminds us why we love what we do.
