Empowering the Bla’an Community through Knowledge and Heart

Looking back with deep gratitude, we at Diko’s Integrated Farm were humbled to be part of a meaningful deployment in Sarangani Province, Mindanao under the Coco Alliance Project — a special initiative supported by the German Government through GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).

This was more than just a training, it was an immersive and transformative learning experience anchored in the Coconut Farm Business School, enriched with modules on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the LANDSCALE framework. The mission sought to empower coconut farmers and the Bla’an community, not only by enhancing agricultural techniques, but also by strengthening the roots of farm-based enterprise and long-term sustainability.

We were honored to walk alongside the farmers, elders, and young changemakers of the Bla’an tribe and distinct individual — sharing knowledge, exchanging stories, and building bridges of mutual respect between indigenous wisdom and practical innovations. From soil health to business thinking, every session was a step toward helping the community reach its fullest potential, in a way that honors both tradition and transformation.

🌾 A JOURNEY TO REMEMBER: DIKO’S THOUSAND-KILOMETER LEARNING ADVENTURE

Looking back, one of the most meaningful chapters in our farm’s learning journey was the 15-day immersion program that took us across three provinces in Region 8, in partnership with VSU’s 4th Year BSAB interns.

This thousand-kilometer travel was more than just a benchmarking activity, it was a gathering of wisdom, hospitality, and connection among farms, farmers, and future changemakers.

🌴 LOOKING BACK: DIKO’S INTEGRATED FARM TAKES PART IN GLOBAL TRAINING INITIATIVE 🌿

We're honored to recall one of the most meaningful milestones in the journey of Diko’s Integrated Farm — our first international partnership as a training provider through the Coconut Farm Business School Training Program, organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Coco Alliance, and multinational partner companies.

This 5-day intensive Training of Trainers, which took place from July 24–28, 2023, at Kuting Reef Resorts, Macrohon, Southern Leyte, was a groundbreaking step in capacitating local coconut farmers to enhance their farm enterprises and support sustainable coconut production in the region.

🌴Empowering Local Farms Through Knowledge Sharing

DIKO’S Integrated Farm is honored to have taken part in the Training of Trainers on the Coconut-Cacao Farming System held last May 13-17, 2024 at the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 8 (ATI-RTC 8), VSU, VISCA, Baybay City, Leyte.

This intensive week-long program strengthened our capacity to support fellow farmers, AEWs, LSA operators and Youths in promoting climate-smart, diversified, and sustainable farming systems.🔐

By integrating coconut and cacao — two of our region’s most valuable crops — we’re unlocking new potentials for productivity, resilience, and farm enterprise.

🌱 At DIKO’S, we believe that real growth happens when knowledge is shared.

I am deeply honored and grateful to have been invited by ATI-RTC 8 as a resource speaker for the 10-day Training of Trainers on Coconut Farm Business School.

It was a humbling and fulfilling experience to share my knowledge and practical insights with fellow farm owners, LSA operators, agricultural technicians, AEWs, and aspiring trainers. Being part of their learning journey and growth in the coconut industry is truly a blessing.

🌴 Strengthening Coconut Farming Through Continuous Learning 🌴

Training of Trainers on Coconut Production and Management (Batch 2) held last July 3–7, 2023 at the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center 8 (ATI-RTC 8), VSU, VISCA, Baybay City, Leyte.

This intensive training was made possible under the leadership of Center Director Hazal Grace T. Taganas, and brought together passionate individuals committed to advancing sustainable and profitable coconut farming in our regions.

As we bring this knowledge back to our communities, we remain dedicated to sharing and implementing these practices empowering farmers, enhancing productivity, and promoting innovation in the coconut industry.

A Cherished Legacy Worth Remembering

Last February 2024, we had the rare privilege of sharing more than just food—we shared a piece of our heritage. As a token of deep gratitude for the Bla’an Indigenous Community’s unmatched hospitality, generosity, and quiet strength, we passed on the secret recipe of our signature delicacy, Diko’s Special Manban.

It was more than a gesture; it was a legacy, a bridge between cultures, a tribute to friendship, and a heartfelt offering from one tradition to another.❤️‍🔥👥

Forever etched in our hearts are the smiles, the stories, and the spirit of Mindanao.🔥

Looking back with gratitude at one of the most fulfilling chapters of my journey:

Thank you DA-AMAD RFO8 for inviting me as the motivational speaker for the Young Farmers Challenge Provincial Level Awarding Ceremony, and to LGU Tabango for choosing me to speak at the Youth Day Celebration. It was an honor to serve, share my story, and hopefully inspire others.

I was also thrilled about my upcoming features then — in Byaheng Agribiz by DA-AMAD Central Office and Agrilink with the Foundation for Resource Linkage and Development (FRLD).

These milestones remain close to my heart.
