17 days. That’s all it took for Thor to remind us what hope looks like.

From lying helpless on the street after being hit by a car…
To standing.
To walking.
To trying to play again.

In just 17 days post-surgery, Thor showed magnificent improvement. With the constant support and cheers from his ate and kuya volunteers, and the dedication of our vet assistants and doctors here at Surigao Pet Doctors, this once-broken stray dog is now fighting, moving, and living again.

Thor was found lying on the road alone, injured, and forgotten. But a kind-hearted group of volunteers in Siargao chose to see not a hopeless case… but a life worth saving. They gave him a second chance. They believed healing was possible.

And today, Thor proves that fractures are not the end of the story.

To every pet parent facing a fractured bone diagnosis —
There is hope.
There is a big chance.
With the right surgical intervention, proper aftercare, teamwork, and love… healing happens.

Bone heals.
Pain fades.
Strength returns.

Thor is amazing, not just because he survived, but because he reminds us that every patient deserves a chance to stand again.

Never give up on a broken bone.
Sometimes, 17 days is all it takes to see a miracle begin. 💚🤍❤️

Mikay arrived almost lifeless.

Weak. Pale. Barely responsive.
A senior female dog fighting a silent and deadly condition, Pyometra, a severe uterine infection that can quickly lead to septic shock and death if not treated immediately.

At that moment, the odds were not in her favor.

But her owner chose to fight.

Despite the risks that come with age, anesthesia, and critical condition, Ma’am June Christine Dumdumaya made the brave decision to proceed with emergency surgery, because giving up was never an option.

Mikay underwent immediate surgical intervention under the care of
Dr. Oriel and Dr. Rose, with intensive stabilization, fluid therapy, and close monitoring before and after surgery.

Pyometra is not just “infection.”
It is a ticking time bomb.
And Mikay was running out of time.

But sometimes, love moves faster than disease.

From almost lifeless… to fighting.
From critical… to stable.
From uncertainty… to discharge.

Mikay walked out of confinement stronger than she came in.

To Ma’am June, thank you for choosing courage. Thank you for fighting for her.

Senior pets are never “just old.”
They are years of loyalty worth saving

Oreo was admitted due to urinary concerns and was diagnosed with FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease), a common but potentially serious condition in cats.

FLUTD can cause straining, frequent urination, pain, and sometimes blood in the urine. In male cats, it can quickly become life-threatening if obstruction occurs.

Under the care of Dr. Charles, Oreo received appropriate medical management and close monitoring during confinement.

We sincerely thank Ma’am Nelly Castro for bringing Oreo in early and trusting us with his care.

Reminder to cat owners: changes in urination should never be ignored.

Thirteen years.

For some, that number means “too old.”
For Sir Fernando & Ma’am Sharon, it meant “still worth fighting for.”

Frankie, a 13-year-old senior warrior, was admitted after struggling with urinary discomfort. Diagnostics revealed a urinary bladder stone and not just any stone, but one of the largest urinary bladder stones we have removed.

At his age, every decision carries weight. Anesthesia is no longer routine. Surgery is no longer simple. Risks are real. Outcomes are never guaranteed.

But love sometimes chooses courage over fear.

After careful stabilization and thorough discussion, Frankie underwent Soft Tissue Surgery – Cystotomy to remove the massive stone that had been silently causing him pain.

The procedure was performed and managed by
Dr. Oriel O. Echavez, Dr. Charles Jave Cabarrubias, Dr. Rose Pearl Tanutan, and Dr. Kemuel James Redido, with the entire team closely monitoring him before, during, and after surgery.

Senior patients remind us why veterinary medicine is not just science , it is heart.

We cannot stop time.
We cannot promise forever.
But we can remove pain.
We can give comfort.
We can give more good days.

To Sir Fernando & Ma’am Sharon, thank you for choosing to fight for Frankie. Thank you for seeing his age not as a limitation, but as 13 years of love worth protecting.

Frankie proved that strength has no age.🤍

When Lily was brought to us, she was weak and needed immediate medical attention. After diagnostic testing, she was confirmed positive for Canine Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Babesiosis, three serious tick-borne blood infections that can severely affect red blood cells and platelets.

Her condition required urgent intervention.

Due to her compromised blood parameters, a blood transfusion🩸was performed, along with intensive supportive care and targeted medications to control the infections and stabilize her system.

This case was managed by Dr. Arianne, together with the clinical team who closely monitored Lily’s vitals, hematologic response, and overall progress throughout confinement.

Tick-borne diseases can silently progress and become life-threatening if not detected early. Lily’s case reminds us how crucial routine tick prevention and early testing are.

We sincerely thank Ma’am Aireen Mae Abis for acting promptly and trusting us with Lily’s care.

Lily was discharged improved and stable, with continued medications and strict follow-up advised.

When Shirahoshi was brought in, she wasn’t her usual self. Gastrointestinal signs were evident, and after proper assessment and testing, she was diagnosed with Corona Viral Gastroenteritis, a viral condition that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and weakness if not managed early.

The good thing? Early intervention makes a big difference.

Under the care of Dr. Arianne, Shirahoshi was started on supportive therapy, fluid management, and close monitoring to help her body recover and prevent complications. Viral gastroenteritis can look mild at first, but proper medical support is key to faster and safer recovery.

We would like to thank Sir Marlon Raquel for bringing Shirahoshi in promptly and for trusting our team with her care. Early action truly helped in this case.

Shirahoshi responded well to treatment and was discharged stable and brighter.

Reminder to all fur parents: if your pet suddenly develops vomiting or diarrhea, don’t wait too long. Early check-up saves time, cost, and most importantly, prevents complications

Maggie was admitted after showing clinical signs related to her urinary tract. Diagnostic work-up confirmed urinary bladder stones, a painful condition that can lead to obstruction and serious complications if not addressed promptly.

After stabilization and proper preparation, a cystotomy was performed to surgically remove the stones.

Her case was managed medically by Dr. Rose Pearl S. Tanutan, with surgery performed by Dr. Oriel, Dr. Kemuel, and Doc Rose, supported by the entire hospital team who closely monitored Maggie throughout confinement and recovery.

We would like to sincerely thank Ma’am Nicole Placencia, who travelled all the way from Claver to seek care for Maggie. The effort, trust, and commitment to your pet’s health truly speak volumes. We do not take that lightly.

Maggie was discharged stable and improving, with home care instructions and follow-up guidance provided.

Safe travels back home, and wishing Maggie a smooth and comfortable recovery.

Some cases stay with you long after discharge.

Swing was admitted under our care and, after thorough evaluation, was diagnosed with Oral Melanoma , an aggressive and malignant form of cancer that silently progresses and carries a guarded prognosis.

For cases like this, we understand the reality. Melanoma is not a simple mass. It is not something that disappears with medication. It is a cancer that invades, destroys, and spreads.

But even when we cannot change the ultimate outcome, we can still choose to fight for time.
Time without pain.
Time with comfort.
Time with family.

Swing underwent a mandibulectomy, performed by Dr. Arianne,Dr Kemuel, Dr Rose & Dr Oriel in an effort to remove the primary tumor burden and improve quality of life. Surgery in melanoma cases is not about cure, it is about giving the patient a better chance at comfort, dignity, and extended meaningful days.

This case was handled with careful planning, surgical precision, and close post-operative monitoring by our dedicated team.

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Lourdes Eliot for entrusting Swing to our care and for making the brave and loving decision to pursue surgery despite understanding the nature of this disease.

Cancer reminds us of our limits as veterinarians.
But compassion reminds us why we continue to try.

Swing’s journey continues, and we stand with her every step of the way.

Brianne was admitted for further evaluation due to urinary concerns. After complete diagnostics, she was diagnosed with urinary bladder stones, with concurrent Canine Ehrlichiosis and Babesiosis, making her case medically challenging and requiring careful stabilization.

Once her condition was properly managed, a cystotomy was performed to surgically remove the bladder stones. Simultaneously, treatment for the blood parasitic infections was continued, with close monitoring of her hematologic status and overall recovery.

This case was managed collaboratively by Doc Charles, Doc Kemuel, Doc Rose, and Doc Oriel, together with the entire clinical team who ensured round-the-clock care during her hospitalization.

We would like to sincerely thank Ma’am Annie Codilla for the trust and cooperation throughout Brianne’s confinement and treatment.

Brianne was discharged improved and stable, with continued home medications and follow-up care advised.

Crystal was admitted under our care and recently underwent a flank spay surgery.

We would like to sincerely thank Ma’am Kristine Besin for the trust and confidence you placed in us. Allowing us to handle Crystal’s procedure and recovery truly means a lot.

This case was managed and led by Dr. Oriel O. Echavez, together with the whole veterinary team who closely monitored her from admission until discharge. Every patient that comes through our doors is treated with careful planning, proper surgical technique, and close post-operative monitoring to ensure a smooth and safe recovery.

Crystal did well, and we are grateful to see her go home stable and comfortable. 🤍

To Ma’am Kristine, thank you again for trusting our team with Crystal’s care.
