ISRAELI BANDAGE APPLICATION TO VARIOUS SEVERE BLEEDING LEARNED AT TOURISM SUBJECT BY ENTREPRENEURSHIP STUDENTS OF SORSOGON STATE UNIVERSITY
SSU MAIN CAMPUS, SORSOGON CITY --- Entrepreneurship students at Sorsogon State University (SorSU) recently participated in an activity on the proper application of the Israeli bandage, a vital first-aid tool used in emergency and combat medicine to control severe bleeding. It provided participants with in-depth knowledge of how to apply Israeli bandages to different types of severe wounds, including limb injuries, deep lacerations, and gunshot wounds while emphasizing the importance of proper wound management, pressure application, and the versatility of the bandage, which features a built-in pressure bar that helps stop bleeding effectively.
While entrepreneurship students typically focus on business strategies, innovation, and market dynamics, the inclusion of the activity underscored how emergency preparedness can play a role in business settings, particularly for those planning to enter industries such as event management, tourism, and logistics, where first-aid knowledge can be a critical asset. "We believe that entrepreneurial success is not just about financial gains but also about social responsibility and by equipping our students with first-aid skills, we are helping them become responsible leaders who can make a difference in their communities." said Ms. Cristina J. Racelis, a part-time faculty.
Participants expressed their enthusiasm for the activity, citing its relevance not only to personal safety but also to potential business ventures in the healthcare and emergency preparedness sectors. "The activity opened my eyes to the importance of emergency response, and I can see how this knowledge could be integrated into future business ideas, such as first-aid training services or selling emergency preparedness kits," shared Ms. Christine Grace Pantua, a BS Entrepreneurship student. Supported by a CHED Memorandum Order, this innovation is aimed at integrating practical, real-world skills that enhance the entrepreneurial mindset. Merging business education with emergency response training is meant to develop graduates who are not only resourceful and innovative but also capable of responding to real-life challenges with confidence and competence.
