Half of all dogs in the U.S. are overweight - and most owners don’t even realize it.

A recent study from Texas A&M University, working with the Dog Aging Project, looked at thousands of dogs across the country.
They found that more than 50 percent of dogs in the U.S. are carrying excess weight.

That’s not just a cosmetic issue.
Being overweight puts dogs at higher risk for joint problems, diabetes, heart issues, and even a shorter lifespan.

What’s surprising is that many owners think their dogs are at a healthy weight when they’re not.
Vets say it’s common for people to overlook slow weight gain, especially in older dogs.

The study also found some interesting patterns.
Dogs that were highly food-motivated or lived in less active households were more likely to be overweight.
Certain breeds were more at risk too.

And it’s not just one study.
The Association for Pet Obesity Prevention also reported that nearly 60 percent of dogs in the U.S. are overweight or obese.

It’s a problem that’s growing, but it’s also one that’s fixable.

Small changes in diet, daily walks, and cutting back on table scraps can make a big difference.
Dogs rely on us to help them stay healthy - and they deserve to feel good in their bodies too.
