Happy lunar new year!
As the festivities go on for today, let's not forget to keep an eye out for our furry family members!
Here's some quick tips to ensure a safe and auspicious day of tradition for our smaller companions.
1. "Keep your pets indoors" - today's festivities might keep us too busy and preoccupied to fully keep an eye on our pets, so to avoid any of them getting out and lost during all the events, let's just opt to keep them inside.
2. "Refrain from giving fruit & nuts" - The new year is exciting because sometimes there's new and rare food on the table. We all would like for everyone to partake in the feast that's prepared, however, there are some food like some fruits and nuts (like raisins, grapes, macadamias, almonds, chocolates) that are not safe for our pets. Make sure that they aren't also able to pick up any of those food in case they fall from our tables.
3. "Prepare a "calm" spot" - The lunar new year can bring rowdiness, noise, and fireworks that may be fun for us, but not so much for our pets. They might need a special calm spot at home where they can escape the noise and energy that they aren't prepared for. A quiet spot in a room, a box, or even a bed that's away from all the celebrations might be the perfect hideaway from all that's going on.
4. "Keep away from snakes" - It's the year of the snake, they're supposed to be lucky. We know. But just in case you do see one during this time, please keep your pets away from them. (They are overly curious and will most likely approach them.) And if you do see any snakes, please leave them alone, or report them to the proper authorities so that they may be removed properly so that we can avoid any unnecessary incidents.

Do you have a pregnant cat or dog?
Did you know their pregnancy only lasts about 60 days?
Your pets undergo multiple changes all throughout the pregnancy and it is highly advised that we keep an eye on your pets as they approach the end of their gestation. Diagnostic imaging such as ultrasonography and x-rays are tools that we can use to monitor the development of the offspring as well as their position and number.
Hormonal tests such as progesterone testing can also be done to assess how close your pet is to their due date.
So if you have a pregnant pet, why not give us a visit? Together we can check the wellness of your pet and avoid unforseen complications and bring warm and healthy puppies and kittens into this world!

Ear mites are parasites that can affect dogs and cats and cause severe discomfort. Symptoms include severe scratching of ears and neck area, head shaking, skin irritation, and dark waxy ear discharge. Ear mites are contagious via direct contact and they multiply very quickly!
If you observe these signs on your pets, it is important to bring them to the Vet for proper diagnosis. Misdiagnosing ear mites at home can lead to inappropriate treatment which can make your pet's situation to get worse.
