Ear mites in cats are tiny parasites, commonly known as Otodectes cynotis, that can cause discomfort for our beloved feline companions. These tiny invaders live in the ear canal and feed on skin debris and oils, which can be especially concerning for kittens or outdoor cats as they are more susceptible to these pests. It’s important to be aware of ear mites, as they can easily spread between pets. Providing care and attention to our pets’ health is essential in keeping them happy and comfortable.
Signs of Ear Mites in Cats

* Dark, crumbly discharge in the ear canal (resembles coffee grounds)
* Redness, swelling, or sores around the ear
* Strong odor from the ears
* In severe cases, skin irritation and hair loss around the ears.
