This is Orange, a 3-month-old Pomeranian-Chow mix who was referred to us by another clinic. When she arrived, she was weak, had difficulty breathing, and showing signs of distemper.

Distemper is a tough virus. Many dogs don’t make it. But Orange fought hard.

With intensive care, lots of love, and her family by her side every step of the way, Orange slowly started to recover. Day by day, she got stronger, and today, she’s walking, eating, and even wagging her tail again.

We’re so proud of her. She’s one of the lucky ones and a reminder that with the right care and hope, recovery is possible.

Canine distemper is a life-threatening and highly contagious viral disease that affects dogs of all ages, especially puppies and unvaccinated pets. It spreads through respiratory droplets, saliva, and even body fluids. Early symptoms include fever, coughing, nasal discharge, vomiting, diarrhea, and even seizures in severe cases.

The best protection against distemper is timely vaccination and avoiding contact with infected animals. Let’s stay informed and take the necessary steps to protect our beloved dogs - because prevention is always better than cure.
