PVMA Leads the Charge in World Rabies Day 2025 Celebrations Across the Philippines

In a powerful nationwide campaign, the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) spearheaded the celebration of World Rabies Day with the theme: “Beterinaryong Pilipino: Sandigan ng Bayan para sa Rabies-Free na Kinabukasan”
This year’s theme emphasizes the critical role of Filipino veterinarians and community action in eliminating rabies, a 100% preventable but still deadly disease. As one of the leading public health observances globally, World Rabies Day is commemorated every September 28 to raise awareness and promote rabies prevention.
“Our Filipino veterinarians are more than animal doctors — we are partners in building a healthier, safer nation. Every vaccine we administer, every pet owner we educate, and every community we empower is a step closer to a rabies-free Philippines.”
Act Now: You, Me, Community — this year's call to action serves as a reminder that rabies prevention is not the sole responsibility of veterinarians and health authorities, but of every Filipino. Community members are urged to vaccinate their pets, report stray or aggressive animals, and seek immediate post-exposure treatment if bitten.

PVMA Lauds Dr. Theresa Mundita Sison-Lim for PRC Outstanding Professional Award
The Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) celebrated one of its most distinguished members, Dr. Theresa Mundita Sison-Lim, who was honored as the 2025 PRC Outstanding Professional of the Year for Veterinary Medicine. The prestigious award was presented at the 52nd Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Awards Night, held on September 6, 2025, at the historic Manila Hotel.
Dr. Sison-Lim's selection for this year's top honor recognizes a career marked by significant contributions to both veterinary science and conservation. A respected veterinarian and conservationist, she previously served as the Director of the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB) and later as the Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity.
Her leadership in these roles has had a lasting impact on wildlife conservation and biodiversity protection in the Philippines and throughout the ASEAN region. Her work underscores the critical role of the veterinary profession in safeguarding not only animal health but also the broader environment. We are particularly interested in manuscripts that address emerging challenges and opportunities in the field, contributing to the advanced veterinary knowledge and practice.
