Bridging Generations: PVMA Officers and Past Presidents Gather for Annual Fellowship
At the start of every new term, the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) holds a time-honored tradition that goes beyond formal turnover rites — the annual fellowship and get-together of the new set of officers and Board of Directors with the PVMA’s Past Presidents.
Held this year at the outset of the 2025-2026 term, the fellowship annually hosted by Past President Dr. Manuel "Bobot" Carlos at their residence in Cainta, Rizal, brought together the fresh energy of the new leadership and the seasoned wisdom of those who once steered the Association. Far from a mere ceremonial gathering, it served as a bridge between generations of veterinary leaders united by one purpose: elevating the Filipino veterinary profession.
Over shared meals and candid conversations, Past Presidents offered more than just nostalgia. They shared hard-won lessons from their own terms — navigating regulatory changes, championing animal welfare legislation, responding to national crises, and strengthening the voice of veterinarians in the One Health arena.
For the PVMA officers and board, the fellowship was both a warm welcome and a charge to lead with integrity, vision, and courage. For the Past Presidents, it was a reminder that their service continues through the guidance they impart.
As PVMA prepares for major milestones ahead —including the Philippines’ hosting of the FAVA Congress 2027 — this annual tradition ensures that every new term starts not from scratch, but from the shoulders of those who came before.
In the words of one Past President: “The title is temporary, but your impact on the profession can be lasting. Lead not for position, but for purpose.”
And with that, the new PVMA Board steps forward — guided by wisdom, strengthened by fellowship, and committed to taking Philippine veterinary medical association to greater heights.
