MAN GUILTY OF ANIMAL CRUELTY FOR SHOOTING HIS NEIGHBOR’S CAT
Johnmed Parungao, the man responsible for the tragic killing of his neighbor’s beloved cat, Poly, has been found guilty by the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 3, Manila, in a decision issued by Presiding Judge Honorable Peter Steve G. Lim.
On May 23, 2023, Poly, a gentle and affectionate orange tabby puspin, was peacefully resting under the sun as he did every morning when he was senselessly shot by Parungao. Poly’s devastated owner, Lorna, discovered his lifeless, bloodied body right by her patio with a gunshot wound to the head, and CCTV footage captured the heartwrenching moment Parungao passed by her house to kill him.
With unwavering support from PAWS, Lorna bravely pursued justice for Poly by filing a case against the perpetrator. After months of legal pursuit, Parungao was found guilty and has been sentenced to two years in prison and fined 100,000 pesos for his heinous crime.
Run free, Poly, knowing that justice has been served in your name. We honor Lorna’s unwavering courage in seeking justice for you and for standing with PAWS to ensure that your life will never be forgotten.
