PAWS STATEMENT ON THE 29 BODIES OF DECEASED PETS DUMPED IN A VACANT LOT IN SAN JOSE DEL MONTE BULACAN
The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) condemns the alleged deception of pet parents who entrusted their beloved companions’ remains to a pet crematorium, only to discover that their bodies had reportedly been dumped in a vacant lot instead of being cremated.
Pet parents paid for a service that was supposed to provide their beloved companions with a dignified farewell. Instead, they were allegedly deceived at a particularly vulnerable moment of grief.
This is a grave betrayal of trust that may constitute Estafa under Article 315(2)(a) of the Revised Penal Code.
PAWS urges affected pet parents to come forward, preserve their receipts, cremation certificates, communications, photographs, and other evidence, and seek legal assistance in filing the appropriate complaint. We also call on the concerned LGU to thoroughly investigate the incident.
The bond between a person and a companion animal does not end with death. PAWS stands with affected pet parents in seeking truth, accountability, and justice.
The trust of a grieving family is not something to be exploited.
