SIR ALBERT HOWARD IS THE FATHER OF THE ORGANIC METHOD.
Composting has been the basis of organic gardening and farming since the days of Sir Albert Howard.

Between 1905 and 1934, he devised the Indore method of composting, in which materials are layered in sandwich fashion, then turned (or mixed by earthworms) during decomposition.

Archeological evidence suggests that composting has existed since the Neolithic period.

Although the process occurs naturally, early farmers were discovered to make their own compost piles, though their application methods differed from those used today.

YOU CAN USE COCKROACHES INSTEAD OF WORMS.

Though not nearly as exciting as worms (and potentially triggering), composting with cockroaches is a thing.

Apparently, they are good at helping to break down tough matter like bones and shells, and you can even buy cockroaches that can’t climb to avoid them escaping.

That's billions of dollars per gram of compost.

Bacteria are the smallest and most common type. They are in charge of the majority of the decomposition process as well as the heat generated in compost heaps. Different types of bacteria thrive and take over the process as temperatures rise.

COMPOSTS DON’T HAVE TO BE STINKY!

That's correct!

Compost piles do not always smell like what some people imagine. If a compost pile emits strong, unpleasant odors, it most likely contains animal products and/or is too wet.

Avoid large amounts of dairy and animal-based food waste, such as cheese, meat, and fish scraps, to avoid this. If the heap contains no animal-based products, it may be too wet, in which case you should investigate what to do if your compost is too wet.

We are the 4D Industrial Engineering students of Quezon City University. We aim to create an Urban Tumbler Composter that will greatly help our environment and can benefit humans too.

Composting is an efficient and effective technique to significantly reduce your waste stream and contribute to a smaller carbon footprint. Methane, a potent greenhouse gas produced when organic waste is dumped in landfills, exacerbates the detrimental effects of climate change.

We hope this will encourage proper waste management in our bid to fight climate change and promote cleanliness in our environment.
