โ | A spider that looks like a scorpion and has forelimbs like a mantis?
โMeet the copocrossean jumping spider in the genus ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Warburton, 1900, which can be found in the Philippines, Malaysia (Borneo), and Indonesia (Sangihe Island, Sulawesi). โCurrently, there are two species belonging to this genus: ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐๐๐ Warburton, 1900 and ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
๐ Cutler & Wanless, 1973.
โThe genus name ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ is derived from the combination of the words "๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ๐ต๐ช๐ด" and the common salticid suffix "-๐ข๐ต๐ต๐ถ๐ด". โThe specific epithet ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ is derived from the combination of the Latin words "๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ๐ถ๐ด" (long) and "๐ค๐ข๐ถ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ด" (tail) due to the long, tail-like extension of this species. โThe specific epithet ๐ก๐๐ข๐๐๐๐๐๐ is derived from the Latin "๐ต๐ณ๐ถ๐คฤซ๐ฅฤ๐ณ๐ฆ" (to slaughter), due to its large front legs which are suspected to be used for prey capture like those of mantises.
