A lot of customers ask what water parameters we maintain in our discus fish room. Here is my reply:
In Ixtus Discus, we use an RO water filter system which makes our stock water at 20ppm after being filtered. We supplement the water with vitamins and minerals to replicate their natural water environment as closely as in the wild. With regards to ph, i dont mess with those parameters because its dangerous and pointless. Please research more about ph so you will know how to handle or how not to, in my case. 😆 They will adjust to your ph naturally if you bought strong discus from reputable breeders/importers. 🥰💯💥 Anyway, I just let them adjust to my municipal water by filtering with my RO system. Regarding water temperature, i don't use heaters, and just let the discus adapt to our country's ever changing weather conditions. I don't want weak discus who cant take the heat or cold in our house. And I don't have to spend more monies for my Meralco bill, using heaters 😉😅
We live in Paranaque. Our water source is laguna lake. Very dirty compared to other water supply from magat dam or la mesa dam, which is much cleaner. Thats why we need to use an RO system here in our fish rooms. 😉
Where do you get your water? 😉
