General came to us with a necrotic mammary tumor, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and severe anemia, making surgery a high-risk procedure.

Our priority was to assess and stabilize her condition first before proceeding with surgery. Once she was stable, she successfully underwent a mastectomy to remove a necrotic mammary tumor.

Myiasis happens when flies lay eggs on open wounds, moist skin, or dirty fur. Once the eggs hatch, maggots start feeding on the tissue, causing pain, infection, and severe tissue damage.

Early signs may include:
• Foul odor
• Open or wet wounds
• Swelling and redness
• Loss of appetite
• Visible maggots

Early detection and proper wound care are very important because these cases can worsen quickly if left untreated.
