HOLIDAY WARNING ‼️Chocolate Toxicity in Dogs ‼️

Yesterday, we attended a patient who ingested chocolate cake containing approx 50g of Cocoa powder. Chocolate contains theobromine, which can be toxic to dogs. Accdg to American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Cocoa powder is the 3rd most toxic source of theobromine.

⚠️ Symptoms of Chocolate Toxicity:

🐶 Vomiting
🐶 Diarrhea
🐶 Increased heart rate
🐶 Restlessness
🐶 Seizures (in severe cases)

Keep your pets away from chocolate or candies which may contain Xylitol. Decontamination is vital in making sure your pet won’t manifest severe symptoms.
