The common misconception is that dogs naturally ‘have’ to chase cats. Socializing your dog early on with smaller animals will address prey drive in most dogs.
Dogs are social and direct, using body language like wagging tails, while cats are more solitary and subtle, relying on hisses or stares. These are things are are easily misunderstood.
Though we don’t expect cats and dogs to be besties for life, we can do our part in guiding our dog towards a calm behavior when around cats.
Special thanks to these High Street Cats for allowing us to practice with them (with cat-tax, of course).
These cats are social, healthy and adoptable. Please consider providing a home for any of these experienced feline furballs by contacting Cats of BGC
