𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐞
Our vet team recently managed a special case referred by a fellow veterinarian in Pangasinan. A dog had been vomiting and struggling to swallow food for about a week. Medications were given earlier, but the symptoms didn’t improve. An X-ray from the referring clinic showed something alarming, a wishbone (from a chicken meal) stuck deep inside the esophagus, the tube that brings food from the mouth to the stomach. This caused discomfort and made it difficult for the dog to eat normally.

The pet was referred to our clinic for endoscopy, a non-surgical procedure where we use a small camera and tools to look inside the throat and stomach, and in this case, to remove the lodged bone. Upon examination, the wishbone was found slightly pierced into the esophageal lining, making retrieval delicate. The procedure was done under general anesthesia. We’re happy to report the dog remained stable during and after the procedure. We prescribed medications to help the esophagus heal and advised the owner to feed soft food in small, frequent meals and along with the post operative care

Endoscopy helps us diagnose and treat issues without major surgery. It’s safer, healing is quicker, and it's the preferred method for removing risky objects like sharp bones esp when they’re stuck in sensitive areas like the esophagus.

Let’s set the record straight:
𝘿𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 — 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘!

Deworming medicines are made to kill worms that are already inside your pet’s body. They don’t create a “shield” or make your pet immune forever. That’s why regular deworming is necessary for LIFE.

𝙒𝙝𝙮?
Because pets can get re-infected again and again, from soil, dirty floors, other animals, insects, even inside your own home. It’s a lifetime risk, so deworming must also be for a lifetime.

Important:
✅ Deworming clears out worms already there.
✅ It does NOT "vaccinate" your pet against future worms.
✅ Skipping deworming can cause hidden infections that can lead to serious illness, and some parasites can even transfer to humans.

Basic Deworming Guide:
📌Puppies/kittens: Every 2-3 weeks until 3 months
📌3–6 months: Every 2 months
📌6 months and above: Every 3–6 months, for life.
📌Outdoor/high-risk pets: May need more often — ask your vet!

𝙽𝚘𝚝 𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚋𝚒𝚛𝚝𝚑𝚜 𝚐𝚘 𝚊𝚜 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚍 — 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝’𝚜 𝚘𝚔𝚊𝚢. 𝚂𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚓𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍 𝚊 𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝚎𝚡𝚝𝚛𝚊 𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚎.

This furmom was brought to us already in labor for almost 4 hours, according to her owner. After a thorough check-up and x-ray, we found out that her puppies were quite large for her small frame, making it difficult and risky for her to deliver naturally.

To prevent further stress and complications, our veterinary team proceeded with a Cesarean Section (CS). With steady hands and a lot of heart, we safely welcomed her beautiful little ones into the world, healthy, strong, and ready for their new life. 💙

𝘼𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙞𝙩! 𝘼𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙩𝙚! 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙩 𝘿𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙞 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨, 𝙃𝙤𝙩𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙨, 𝙖𝙩 𝙄𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙨𝙤’𝙩 𝙋𝙪𝙨𝙖 𝙏𝙪𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧?
Summer sa Pilipinas? Sobrang init, super pawis! At hindi lang tayo ang apektado! Dahil sa matinding init at humidity, mas nagiging laganap ang galis, hotspots, at fungal infections sa mga alaga natin. Kung napapansin mong mas madalas silang kamot nang kamot, baka ito na ang dahilan!

1. 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀) – Not All Are the Same!
Mange is a skin disease caused by microscopic mites, but not all mange is the same. Here are the two most common types:

🔸 Sarcoptic Mange (Galis A*o) – Highly contagious and causes intense itching, redness, hair loss, and thickened skin. It spreads through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated surfaces.
🔸 Demodectic Mange (Demodex or Pulgas-Galis) – Caused by mites that naturally live on a dog’s skin but can overgrow in pets with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include patchy hair loss, scaly skin, and redness, but it’s not contagious.
Why It’s Common in Summer: Heat and stress can weaken your pet’s immune system, making them more vulnerable to mange.
Prevention:
✔ Regular baths using vet-approved shampoos
✔ Avoid contact with stray or infected animals
✔ Strengthen your pet’s immune system with proper nutrition and supplements

2. 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘀 – Red, Inflamed, and Oozing Sores.
Cause: Bacteria thrive in warm, damp fur, leading to painful, irritated skin.
Why It’s Common in Summer: Moisture from swimming, sweating, and excessive licking creates the perfect environment for bacterial growth.
Prevention:
✔ Dry pets thoroughly after baths or swimming
✔ Brush regularly to prevent matted fur that traps moisture
✔ Stop excessive licking by addressing the underlying irritation early

3. 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 – "Bakit may bilog-bilog na kalbo si Mingming?"
Cause: Fungi multiply quickly in humid conditions, leading to scaly skin, red rings, and hair loss.
Why It’s Common in Summer: Heat and sweat create a breeding ground for fungal growth.
Prevention:
✔ Keep pet bedding and living areas clean and dry
✔ Avoid sharing or sanitize grooming tools and accessories with other pets
✔ Seek veterinary care at the first sign of flaky, red patches

𝙋𝙧𝙤 𝙏𝙞𝙥: 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙋𝙚𝙩 𝙎𝙠𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 101
- Always ensure your pet is completely dry after getting wet to prevent infections
- Keep them in good health with a balanced diet and proper supplements to strengthen their skin and coat
- Provide a cool, shaded resting area to prevent overheating
- Ensure proper hydration to support skin health
- Schedule regular vet check-ups for early detection of skin problems
