When emergencies strike, it pays to be paw-pared! 🐾
Here’s what to pack in your pet’s go bag to keep those tails wagging safely through any shake or storm. 🌦️
🐾Food and water – store two to four weeks’ worth of non-perishable pet food in an airtight, waterproof container
🐾Collapsable bowls - to make feeding and hydration easy
🐾Backup Leash and harness- in case you forget to grab a leash or harness during the emergency
🐾Documents - Have copies of your pet’s registration information, ID tag with your up-to-date phone number or email address, Pet booklet, and other relevant documents in a waterproof container and available electronically. You can also add a picture of you and your pet together in case your pet is separated from you, to help document ownership and identification.
🐾Cleanup items or Sanitation needs– Waste bags for dogs. Cat litter box, litter, scoop and garbage bags for cats.
🐾First aid kit -Talk to your veterinarian about what is most appropriate for your pet’s emergency medical needs.
🐾Medications – Keep at least two weeks supply of the medicine your pet takes on a regular basis in a waterproof, labelled container. You may also include one month supply of flea, tick, and heartworm preventative.
*Remember: medications can expire, so check and keep them updated.
🐾Familiar items- Put some of your pet’s favorite toys, pillow or bedding in your kit. Familiar items can help reduce stress for your pet.
