🐕 CANINE DISTEMPER 🐕
Canine distemper is highly contagious and can spread through coughing, sneezing, and close contact with infected dogs. By the time many dogs begin showing obvious symptoms, the virus has already caused significant damage.
Early signs may include:
• Fever
• Runny eyes and nose
• Coughing
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting
• Weakness and lethargy
As the disease progresses, some dogs develop:
• muscle twitching
• seizures
• difficulty walking
• other neurological problems that can become permanent.
If you notice these signs, don't wait. Isolate the dog from other dogs and seek veterinary care immediately.
🟣 One important reminder: A distemper survivor is not automatically safe to mingle with other dogs. Even after recovery, some dogs may continue shedding the virus for weeks or even months. Keep them isolated and follow your veterinarian's advice before allowing contact with other dogs.
The heartbreaking truth is that many dogs never get the chance to recover.
But the good news is this:
