This August 16, the IVSA Philippines celebrates World Honeybee Day — a buzzing tribute to honey bees and the beekeepers who care for them. These tiny pollinators play a massive role in sustaining our ecosystems and keeping our tables full of nutritious food.

When we plant wildflowers, orchards, and other flowering plants, we give honey bees the nectar they need to survive. In return, they pollinate crops that feed us — proving that their survival is deeply connected to ours.

While honey bees can sting, they only do so if they feel threatened. Keep drinks covered, move slowly if one approaches, and let them continue their vital work.

🐝 Honey Bee Quick Facts:

🍯 One hive can house 20,000–60,000 bees.
🍯 In ideal conditions, a hive can produce up to 200 lbs of honey per year.
🍯 Each hive has only one queen, with drones (males) and worker bees (females) supporting her.
🍯 Beekeepers (apiarists) manage hives, ensure their health, and harvest honey.
