We desperately need your help ‼️
There was severe flooding at the shelter from the recent typhoon and one whole section of the shelter fence collapsed.

Thankfully, none of the dogs were injured and even though they could have escaped, they all chose to stay within the shelter.

Our family came together to put up a temporary fence in the early hours of the morning, in the pouring rain as the typhoon continued to hit.

We now have a hogwire fence up, but this is only a temporary solution. The dogs could get through this if they really tried.

Now, we have to rebuild. We don’t have an exact amount yet, but based on the original cost of the fence, we’re looking at roughly 50,000 pesos ($850 USD)

Please consider donating even just 50 pesos, it all adds up. And if you are on Camiguin and can donate construction materials, please DM us.

Goals 🙌🏼 Doc Alice Utlang is a hero for animal welfare in the Philippines.
Her CNVR program should be the standard across the country.

Cebu City is setting an inspiring example in animal welfare, being the only city in the Philippines that actively implements the CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return) program for stray dogs. This progressive approach has allowed humans and “aspins” (as local dogs are lovingly called) to coexist peacefully across the city.

Stray dogs in Cebu City are not just tolerated they are part of the community. In areas like Cebu Business Park and Cebu IT Park, these dogs roam freely and safely, becoming familiar faces to office workers, residents, and visitors alike. Their presence adds a unique charm to these bustling business hubs, and many locals have taken to caring for and feeding them.

Thanks to the city’s CNVR initiative, these dogs are sterilized, vaccinated, and regularly monitored, helping control the population without resorting to harmful methods. The result is a healthier, more stable community of free-roaming dogs that no longer pose significant public health risks.

Cebu City's humane and sustainable model for managing its stray dog population is a potential blueprint for other urban centers in the Philippines showing that compassion and community can go hand in paw.

An update on the dog that was run over by the tricycle ‼️

We have named her Lucy and she seems to be over the worst of it.

She spent a week at the vet clinic and she’s now at home resting and recovering. ❤️‍🩹

She has lost all function of her back legs but she’s slowly learning how to get around with her front legs. I’ve never met such a kind natured, brave and resilient dog.

She doesn’t appear to be in any pain from her spinal injury and loves when I carry her around like a baby. She does have some open wounds from laying down but we’re treating them.

Thank you for everyone who donated towards Lucy’s care. Her recovery costs are ongoing and we will be getting her a wheelchair soon.

If you would like to donate for Lucy it would mean the world to us.

We need your help! In the middle of a typhoon, we received reports of a dog that was hit by a tricycle and left in the storm.

Our team went out to rescue her and get her to the vet. Unfortunately, it’s not looking good.

Her spine was affected and she’s paralysed in her back legs. We don’t know yet the extent of her injuries, if she’s able to pee/poop on her own or if she’ll ever be able to use her legs again.

She’s getting treated for her pain at the vet now while we wait and see if she’s able to use the toilet.

We haven’t been able to take in any new rescues in months because funds are tight. But we couldn’t turn our backs on this beautiful girl.

Please, if you have anything to spare, we need your donations more than ever.

⚠️ If you have donated before, please double check the GCash number. It has recently changed ⚠️

We haven’t introduced these two yet…
Meet Gin (white) and Juice (orange) 🧡

They were just tiny blurs when they first caught our eye — two little kittens suddenly ran across the mountain road in front of us. They were so small, we almost didn’t notice. But we stopped the car, turned around, and found them huddled together by the side of the road.

There were no houses nearby. We searched and called out for a mama cat, but no one came. It broke our hearts to realise they’d likely been left there — alone, with no one looking for them.

We took them home, cleaned them, dewormed them, and gave them food and love. Now they’re eating well, playing, and slowly coming out of their shells.

They’re siblings, and completely bonded — always sleeping curled up next to each other.

We don’t know how someone could leave them behind. But we’re so glad we were in the right place at the right time.

If you’d like to support our rescue work and help us care for kittens like Gin and Juice, donations are always welcome. Every bit goes toward food, medicine, and giving abandoned animals a second chance. 🤍

Thinking of giving someone a puppy or kitten as a surprise gift? 🎁🐾
We know it comes from a place of love — but please, THINK TWICE.

Pets ARE NOT presents. They’re living, breathing companions who need daily care, attention, and long-term commitment. Surprise pets may seem like a cute idea, but the reality is many of them end up surrendered to shelters when the recipient isn’t ready — emotionally, financially, or practically.

Bringing a new animal into someone’s life should always be a decision made together — not a surprise handed over like a toy. 🐶🐱

Let’s make sure every pet ends up in a home where they’re truly wanted, expected, and cared for. 💛

‼️‼️ This should never happen. ‼️‼️

Today, someone threw a puppy over our shelter fence. Literally threw a helpless animal into an unfamiliar space, hoping we’d deal with it.

We’re heartbroken. And we’re angry.

We know you might’ve thought you were helping—but what you did was dangerous, irresponsible, and unfair.

1. This puppy could’ve been killed.
Our adult dogs do not welcome new animals. We introduce rescues slowly, with supervision. Throwing a pup over the fence could’ve led to a brutal attack. It’s a miracle that didn’t happen today.

2. You’ve now put all our rescues at risk.
We have no idea if this puppy has parvo, distemper, or other diseases. One sick dog can infect everyone. We work hard to protect our animals—this careless act just undid so much.

3. We are already overwhelmed.
We’re stretched to the limit—space, funds, energy. You didn’t just abandon a dog. You pushed that weight onto a struggling team of volunteers trying to keep this place afloat.

If you truly care about animals, this is not the way.

We’re not the government. We’re not a dumping ground. We’re a small shelter doing our best with what little we have. If you need help, talk to us. Don’t make it worse.

If you need help rehoming a dog or finding support, please message us. We are not here to judge—but we are begging you, don’t leave animals like this. Let’s do better for them.

This puppy didn’t deserve to be thrown away.

‼️ BE A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER ‼️
Keep your dogs safe—keep them inside or properly secured.

The municipal dog catchers are currently going around and picking up dogs off the streets—even those wearing collars.

If your dog is missing, contact your municipality immediately to check if they’re at the pound. Dogs that go unclaimed may be k*lled.

If you’re unsure what to do or need help figuring out your next steps, feel free to message us. We will do what we can to help you and your beloved pets.

Let’s all do our part.
Spay/neuter. Vaccinate. Keep them safe. Care for them like family.
