For 104 years, the UP Ranchersโ€™ Club has been more than an organizationโ€”it has been a home where generations of Ranchers have found brotherhood, built lifelong friendships, and carried forward a legacy rooted in agriculture, service, excellence, and the spirit of the rodeo.

From the first Ranchers who laid our foundations, to the generations who continue to wear the brand today, every story, achievement, and memory has become part of the ties that bind us.

As we celebrate 104 years of the Ranchersโ€™ Club, we honour the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the generations yet to come.

TRIVIA TIME!

The Animal Husbandry Arch, one of the most notable landmarks in UPLB, was built on 1924. The UP Ranchers' Club was monumental in the establishment of this waypost (2 years after the founding of the organisation).

Embossed at the back of the said Arch is " โญ RANCHERS CLUB โญ " in commemoration of the club's initiative.

After more than a century, the arch still stands tall. A testament that Ranchers build things that lasts โ€” legacies that continue on.

TRIVIA TIME!

In 1946, the UP College of Agriculture held a historic post-war commencement, six out of seven ( โถ๐Ÿคทโท) honour graduates were Ranchers.

Most notably, Obdulia Fronda-Sison made history as the first Summa Cum Laude graduate of the UP College of Agriculture.

๐ŸŒ RANCHERS WHO MADE A MARK ๐ŸŒ

As our 104th anniversary approaches, the UP Ranchersโ€™ Club also honours Dr. Agustin B. Molina Jr. (Ranchers Batch 1968), a distinguished alumnus and internationally recognized banana scientist whose decades of work have contributed greatly to the advancement of banana research, disease management, and agricultural development in the Philippines and across the Asia-Pacific region.

With a career dedicated to banana science, Dr. Molina spent over 15 years researching Fusarium wilt, helping evaluate and promote banana varieties with resistance to the devastating Fusarium Tropical Race 4 (TR4). His work also contributed to the rehabilitation of the Philippine banana industry, the conservation and utilization of Musa germplasm, and the development of research-based solutions that respond to the needs of Filipino farmers.

His contributions extended beyond the Philippines through his work as Regional Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific at Bioversity International, where he helped strengthen regional collaboration in banana research and development.

Through research that bridged laboratories, fields, and farming communities, Dr. Molina has helped strengthen the resilience of one of the Philippinesโ€™ most important crops.

A remarkable Rancher whose dedication to science, agriculture, and our farmers continues to leave a lasting mark on Philippine banana research. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ

RANCHERS WHO MADE A MARK

The UP Ranchers Club honours Dr. Clare R. Baltazar (Ranchers Batch 1944), a distinguished alumna, pioneering Filipino entomologist, and National Scientist of the Philippines whose groundbreaking work helped shape the study of Philippine insects and advance biological pest control.

Specializing in systematic and economic entomology, Dr. Baltazar made significant contributions through her extensive research on Philippine Hymenoptera, identifying eight previously undescribed genera, one subgenus, and 108 species of parasitic wasps. Her work laid important foundations for the development of biological approaches to pest management in the Philippines.

She also authored Philippine Insects, recognized as one of the first reliable books on Philippine insects, providing an invaluable reference for the study of the countryโ€™s insect fauna.

Her exceptional contributions earned her numerous distinctions, including the Jose Rizal Pro Patria Award, the L.B. Uichanco Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Entomologist, and the Distinguished Alumna Award from the UP College of Agriculture. In 2001, she was named a National Scientist of the Philippines.

Her legacy extends beyond her scientific work, a hybrid of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis was named in her honor: 'Clare R. Baltazar.' ๐ŸŒบ

Congratulations, Sis Kristelle, on a remarkable achievement in Food Technology!

The UP Ranchers' Club proudly celebrates Kristelle Martin for SUCCESSFULLY PASSING the August 2026 Professional Food Technologists Computer-Based Licensure Examination!

This milestone is made even more remarkable by the excellence she has already shown in research. Last July, Kristelle, together with her co-authors (Gabriel D. Edeza, Renee Andrea Z. Matias, and Queenie Ann M. Reyes), was named CHAMPION in the Food Technology Category of the 52nd DOST-FNRI Seminar Series Undergraduate Student Research Competition for their study:
