A Story of Strength and Healing: Meet Sarang
Today, we want to share the journey of Sarang, a beautiful and brave 11-year-old female dog who came to our clinic in a very critical state. Her owner brought her in after noticing that she had completely lost her appetite, was vomiting, had pus discharge, and could not urinate. These signs were already alarming, and immediate tests were done to uncover what was happening inside her body.
Blood tests showed us that Sarang was battling a severe infection, low platelet count, and signs of infection in her kidney and liver. To further investigate, an ultrasound was performed which revealed two major problems:
Pyometra โ a dangerous and life-threatening uterine infection common in unspayed female dogs.
Bladder stones โ which further complicated her condition and contributed to her urinary issues.
With this diagnosis, it was clear that urgent surgical intervention was needed to save Sarangโs life. Our team performed two major procedures:
Ovariohysterectomy (OH) โ the removal of the infected uterus to stop the spread of pyometra.
Cystotomy โ the removal of stones from the bladder to restore normal urination.
The surgery was challenging given Sarangโs age and her already weakened state due to infection, but this strong girl pulled through.
Today, we are happy to share that Sarang is recovering very well. She is no longer lethargic, has regained her energy, and is already showing no signs of her previous illness. Her journey reminds us how important early detection, proper diagnostics, and timely surgical care are in saving the lives of our beloved pets.
We are so proud of Sarang for her courage and resilience, and we are truly thankful to her family for entrusting her care to Petmeds Animal Clinic.
Let Sarangโs story be a reminder for all fur parents: spaying your pets can prevent life-threatening conditions like pyometra, and regular check-ups can catch hidden problems before they become critical.
