Ito ang naging depensa ng suspect sa Orani case matapos kitilin ang buhay ng isang inosenteng a*o. Pero kahit sino pa ang “mag-utos,” hindi nawawala ang pananagutan sa isang malinaw na akto ng kalupitan.

Hindi laruan ang mga hayop. Hindi sila disposable. At lalong hindi dapat gawing normal ang pagpatay sa kanila na parang walang buhay na mawawala.

Ang ka*o na ito ay paalala na may batas para protektahan ang mga hayop, at may mga taong handang manindigan para ipaglaban sila. Hindi porket tahimik ang isang a*o, wala na itong karapatang mabuhay.

Sa bawat cruelty case na hinahayaan, mas lalong lumalakas ang loob ng mga umaabuso. Kaya mahalagang magsalita, magsumbong, at managot ang mga responsable.

Animal welfare is not optional. Compassion should never end where inconvenience begins.

So many cats and dogs without homes or uncared for? An animal welfare organization has drafted a model ordinance for local government units (LGUs) offering tax and business permit rebates to private veterinarians who provide free spay or neuter services a certain number of times per month.

The volunteer group that cared for the McKinley community cat Ghost assured the public that it is taking steps to file a case for accountability following the well-loved feline’s death.

Cats of McKinley on Monday, April 20, acknowledged the messages it has received from concerned Filipinos after raising awareness that Ghost was attacked by pet dogs being walked in the area.
