NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

It has once again come to the attention of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) that 'FLOODING' otherwise known as 'TINGAL', 'SUPAK', 'BOMBA', or 'BANGAL' is still continously being practiced not just in slaughterhouses but also even prior to transporting the animal.

Be reminded and warned that FLOODING / TINGAL / SUPAK / BOMBA / BANGAL is a form of cruelty and is therefore a CRIMINAL ACT punishable either by fine or imprisonment in accordance to the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 8485 as amended by RA 10631, its Revised Implementating Rules and Regulations.

Further, Administrative Sanctions either in the form of suspension or revocation of licenses, registrations, and/or permits will be given to erring facilities, transport carriers and handlers caught or reported doing aforementioned criminal acts.

Flooding / Tingal / Supak does not just affect the welfare of the animals but more importantly food safety, as the quality of the meat is greatly affected.

The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry in cooperation with the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS) will be working together to promote Good Animal Welfare Practices which in turn would produce Good Quality and Safe Meat.
