“Your Dog’s Heart: Small Organ, Big Job!”

Your dog’s heart may only be the size of a golf ball (or a tennis ball for large breeds), but it works non-stop to keep them going strong. With a heart rate ranging from 70 to 160 beats per minute, it pumps blood, delivers oxygen, and keeps your pup full of energy and life!

Watch out for signs of heart issues:

• Difficulty breathing

• Fatigue after play

• Coughing (especially at night)

• Swollen belly or limbs

Prevention is powerful! Annual vet visits and heartworm prevention are essential to protect your dog’s heart.

“Did You Know? Dogs Have a ‘Sixth Sense’ for Storms!”

Have you ever noticed your dog acting restless before a storm hits?

That’s because dogs can detect changes in barometric pressure, humidity, and even static electricity in the air—giving them a sort of “weather warning system.”

Common signs your dog senses a storm:

• Pacing or hiding

• Whining or barking

• Clinginess

• Shaking or seeking shelter

Help calm their nerves with a quiet, safe space and reassuring cuddles. If anxiety is severe, talk to your vet for solutions.

🐾 Deworming Pets with Yakult: Myth or Fact? 🤔

Have you heard the claim that Yakult can be used for deworming pets? While probiotics like Yakult can promote gut health, it is NOT a substitute for proper deworming medication. 🚫💊

🔹 Why Do Some Pet Owners Try Yakult?

✔️ It contains probiotics (Lactobacillus casei Shirota) that support digestion.

✔️ It may help improve gut flora, especially after antibiotic use.

✔️ Some believe it can "flush out" parasites—but this is a misconception.

🔹 Why Yakult Can't Replace Dewormers?

🐾 No anti-parasitic properties – Yakult does not kill or remove worms.

🐾 Worms require proper medication – Only veterinary dewormers can effectively treat parasitic infections.

🐾 Some pets are lactose intolerant – Dairy-based products can cause digestive upset.

💡 The Right Way to Deworm Your Pet:

✔️ Vet-approved dewormers – Always use medications prescribed for your pet’s weight and condition.

✔️ Regular schedule – Puppies/kittens need frequent deworming, while adults require periodic treatments.

✔️ Hygiene matters – Clean your pet’s environment to prevent reinfestation.

If you’re unsure about the best deworming plan for your pet, consult your vet! We’re here to help keep your furbabies healthy. 🩺🐶🐱

🐾 The Hidden Dangers of Overfeeding Your Pets 🐾

We all love spoiling our pets with treats and extra food, but did you know that overfeeding can lead to serious health issues? 🐶🐱

🔴 Why Overfeeding is Harmful:
⚖ Obesity – Extra weight puts stress on joints, leading to arthritis.
💔 Heart & Liver Problems – Excess fat strains vital organs.
🩸 Diabetes – Uncontrolled eating can disrupt blood sugar levels.
🤢 Digestive Issues – Overeating may cause bloating, diarrhea, or vomiting.

✅ How to Keep Your Pet’s Diet Balanced:
🥕 Feed appropriate portions based on size, breed, and activity level.
🥩 Choose high-quality pet food with balanced nutrients.
🏃‍♂️ Encourage regular exercise to maintain a healthy weight.
🚫 Avoid too many treats—they should be no more than 10% of daily calories.

Worried about your pet’s weight? Schedule a check-up with us for a personalized nutrition plan!

🌡️ Extreme Heat Alert: Protect Your Pets! 🌡️

Recent reports indicate that the heat index in Negros Occidental has reached 40°C (104°F) today, March 18, 2025. This level falls under the "Danger" category, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is possible with continued activity.

How This Affects Your Pets:

Heatstroke Risk: Pets can overheat rapidly, leading to serious health issues.

Paw Pad Burns: Hot surfaces can cause painful burns on their paws.

Dehydration: Excessive heat can lead to dehydration, affecting your pet's overall health.

Immediate Steps to Keep Your Pets Safe:

Hydration: Ensure your pets have access to fresh, cool water at all times.

Shelter: Keep them in shaded, cool, or air-conditioned areas.

Exercise: Limit physical activities, especially during peak heat hours.

Surface Awareness: Avoid walking them on hot pavements; if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

Never Leave Alone: Never leave your pets unattended in vehicles, even for short periods.

Watch for Warning Signs: Be alert for signs of heat distress, such as heavy panting, drooling, vomiting, or lethargy. If you notice these symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately.

Stay Safe and Keep Your Pets Cool!

🐾 Why Do Pets Shed? Understanding the Fur-tastic Truth! 🐾

Ever wonder why your pet leaves a trail of fur wherever they go? Shedding is a natural process that helps animals get rid of old or damaged hair. But why do some pets shed more than others? Let’s break it down!

🔹 Why Do Pets Shed?

✅ Seasonal Changes – Many pets shed more during spring and fall as they adjust to temperature changes.

✅ Breed Differences – Some breeds, like Huskies and Labradors, shed year-round, while others, like Poodles, shed minimally.

✅ Health & Diet – Poor nutrition, allergies, or skin conditions can lead to excessive shedding.

✅ Stress & Hormones – Changes in environment, pregnancy, or stress can impact fur loss.

💡 How to Manage Shedding:

✔ Brush your pet regularly to reduce loose fur.

✔ Feed them a balanced diet with essential fatty acids for healthy skin and coat.

✔ Bathe them as recommended by your vet.

✔ Check for excessive shedding—it could be a sign of underlying health issues!

🐾 A little shedding is normal, but if your pet is shedding excessively, it’s best to visit your vet for a check-up!

🐝 The Buzz About Bees! 🐝

Did you know that bees play a vital role in our ecosystem? These tiny pollinators help plants grow, ensuring we have fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Without them, food production would drastically decline!

🐾 But did you also know that some pets, especially dogs, may get too curious about bees? While a sting is usually harmless, multiple stings or allergic reactions can be serious. If your pet gets stung, watch out for swelling, difficulty breathing, or excessive drooling—these could be signs of an allergic reaction that needs immediate veterinary care.

🐾 Why Do Dogs and Cats Shake Their Bodies? 🐾

Ever noticed your pet giving a full-body shake, even when they're not wet? That shake isn't just random—it's an important way for them to reset and stay comfortable!

🔹 Reasons Pets Shake Themselves:

✔️ Drying Off – A natural way to remove excess water (especially for dogs!)

✔️ Stress Relief – Helps release tension after a stressful moment

✔️ Waking Up – A morning shake gets their blood flowing

✔️ Itchy Skin – Could indicate allergies, fleas, or skin issues

✔️ Medical Concerns – If excessive shaking occurs, it might signal an ear infection, pain, or neurological issues

If your pet is shaking too often, especially without an obvious reason, it's always best to have them checked by a vet. Stay observant and keep your furry friend happy and healthy! 🐕🐈💙

🐾 The Final Surge: A Heartfelt Goodbye from Your Pet 🐾

Have you ever heard of pets experiencing a sudden burst of energy before passing away? This phenomenon, sometimes called "the final surge" or "terminal lucidity," can happen in dogs and cats nearing the end of their life.

💙 What Does It Look Like?

✔️ A weak pet suddenly becomes active or playful

✔️ They may eat or drink after refusing food for days

✔️ They seek more affection and interaction

💔 Why Does It Happen?

While not fully understood, experts believe it could be:

🔹 A last burst of brain activity

🔹 Endorphins giving a temporary sense of relief

🔹 The body using its remaining energy

🐾 What Can Pet Owners Do?

Cherish these moments—cuddle them, speak softly, and make them feel safe. If they are in discomfort, consult your veterinarian about pain management and palliative care.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but knowing about this final act of love can help pet owners prepare and appreciate their pet’s last moments. 💙🐶🐱

🐾 Can Dogs and Cats Be Vegetarians? 🌱🐶🐱

Many pet owners wonder if their furry companions can thrive on a vegetarian diet. Here’s what you need to know:

🔹 Dogs 🐶 – Possible, But Not Ideal
Dogs are omnivores, meaning they can digest both plant and animal matter. While they can survive on a well-balanced vegetarian diet, it requires careful planning to ensure they get enough protein, amino acids, and essential nutrients like taurine and vitamin B12.

🔹 Cats 🐱 – No, They Are Obligate Carnivores
Cats must eat meat to survive. Their bodies rely on nutrients found only in animal sources, such as taurine, which is crucial for heart and eye health. A plant-based diet would lead to severe deficiencies and health problems.

💡 If you’re considering a diet change for your pet, always consult a veterinarian to ensure their nutritional needs are met!

🐱 The Mysterious Cat Distribution System! 🐱

Have you ever noticed how cats just seem to “find” their humans, even when no one planned to adopt them? That’s the Cat Distribution System at work!

🔹 What is it?

It’s an internet-famous theory that suggests cats don’t get adopted—they choose their humans by appearing at their doorstep, work, or even sneaking into their homes!

🔹 Why does this happen?

🐾 Stray cats seek food, warmth, and safety.

🐾 Some are naturally curious and love to explore.

🐾 They seem to have an uncanny ability to know where they’ll be loved.

If a cat has mysteriously “found” you, congratulations! You’ve been chosen by the Cat Distribution System. Will you accept your feline overlord? 😺

🐾 Pet Mutations: Nature’s Unique Touch! 🧬

Did you know that mutations can occur in pets, just like in humans? While some mutations lead to health issues, others result in fascinating and harmless traits!

🔹 Polydactyl Cats – Some cats are born with extra toes, making their paws look like mittens! This mutation is harmless and even helps with balance.

🔹 Blue-Eyed Huskies – Some Siberian Huskies have striking blue eyes due to a genetic mutation that affects pigmentation.

🔹 Short-Legged Dogs – Breeds like Dachshunds and Corgis have a natural mutation in their genes that gives them their adorable, short stature.

Mutations are a natural part of evolution and make our pets even more unique! Have you seen any unusual traits in your furry friends?

🐾 Why Do Pets Get Zoomies? 🏃💨

Ever seen your dog or cat suddenly sprint around the house like a furry rocket? That’s called Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAPs)—also known as the zoomies!

🐕 Dogs get zoomies when:
✔ They have pent-up energy after resting too long.
✔ They’re excited, like after a bath or meal.
✔ They feel playful or just plain happy!

🐈 Cats get zoomies when:
✔ They’re hunting imaginary prey (instinctive behavior).
✔ They’re releasing extra energy, often at night.
✔ They need to stretch their muscles after a long nap.

Zoomies are completely normal, but if they happen too often or cause injuries, your pet might need more playtime and exercise!
