🤝🐾 **Thankful Thursday** 🐾🤝

Not everyone who supports Hiraya has walked through our gates. Some of you have never met our animals. Some live hundreds—or even thousands—of miles away. And some may never have the opportunity to visit us at all. Yet you continue to show up for Hiraya in another very important way.

❤️ **This Thankful Thursday is for our online community—our followers, sharers, advocates, and friends.**

Every time you **like, comment, share, or follow** one of our posts, you help Hiraya reach someone new. You may think clicking **“Share”** is a small thing. **To a small nonprofit like Hiraya, it isn't.**

That one share might reach someone who becomes a donor, our next volunteer, a veterinarian, or a future partner. It might help an animal find a home. It might teach someone why spaying and neutering matters or encourage a pet owner to seek veterinary care. Sometimes, it simply reminds another person that there are still people willing to stand up for animals who cannot speak for themselves.

📱 To those who regularly share our posts, 💬 those who comment and keep the conversation going, 🐾 those who tag their friends, ⭐ those who recommend Hiraya and leave reviews, and ❤️ those who may not be in a position to donate but continue helping us spread our message—**thank you.**

Please never think your contribution doesn't matter. **It does.**

Hiraya is still a young organization. We do not have the reach or resources of large, established animal welfare organizations. **What we do have is you.**

Every time you share our story, our community becomes a little bigger. Every new person who discovers Hiraya is another person who may begin thinking differently about responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, adoption, animal welfare, and compassion toward strays.

So today, instead of thanking someone standing inside our shelter, we are thanking all of you standing **outside of it**—in Nueva Ecija, elsewhere in the Philippines, in the United States, and around the world. You have helped carry Hiraya's voice farther than we could ever carry it alone.

**Maraming, maraming salamat.** Please keep sharing. Please keep talking about responsible animal care. Please keep helping us tell their stories.

Because sometimes helping an animal begins with something as simple as **SHARE. ❤️**

🤝🐾 **Thankful Thursday** 🐾🤝

For **Wellness Wednesday**, I’d make this a **30-Second P**p & Parasite Check**. That keeps the series practical: Education Monday can explain intestinal parasites, while Wednesday teaches owners what they can actually observe at home.

🏥 **WELLNESS WEDNESDAY**

🪱 **30-SECOND P**P & PARASITE CHECK**

It may not be the most pleasant part of pet ownership, but **checking your pet’s p**p is an important wellness habit.** Changes in stool can sometimes be one of the first signs of intestinal parasites or other health problems.

Take **30 seconds** when your pet goes to the bathroom and LOOK before you clean it up.

💩 **WHAT SHOULD YOU CHECK?**

✅ Is the stool formed and fairly consistent?
✅ Is the usual color unchanged?
✅ Is there no blood or excessive mucus?
✅ Do you see anything that looks like worms or small rice-like pieces?
✅ Is your pet passing stool normally without straining?

🚨 **CONTACT YOUR VETERINARIAN IF YOU NOTICE:**

• Worms or worm-like material in the stool
• Small white, rice-like segments around the stool or a**s
• Persistent diarrhea
• Blood or excessive mucus in the stool
• Vomiting, especially if worms are present
• A swollen or pot-bellied abdomen
• Unexplained weight loss despite eating
• Pale gums, weakness, or unusual tiredness

⚠️ **IMPORTANT: YOU MAY NOT SEE WORMS.**

A pet can have intestinal parasites **even when no worms are visible in the stool.** Many parasite eggs are microscopic and can only be detected through a veterinary f***l examination.

💚 **WELLNESS TIP**

Pick up your pet’s f***s promptly and dispose of it properly. Keep their living area, food bowls, and water bowls clean, and follow your veterinarian’s recommended **deworming and parasite-prevention schedule.**

And remember: **Do not allow pets to drink from canals, drainage water, puddles, or other potentially contaminated water sources.**

Some intestinal parasites can also infect people, so **wash your hands after handling f***s and teach children to do the same.**

⏱️ **TODAY’S 30-SECOND CHALLENGE**

Next time your pet p**ps:

👀 **LOOK** — Anything unusual?
💩 **CHECK** — Normal consistency and color?
🪱 **NOTICE** — Any worms, rice-like pieces, blood, or mucus?
🐶🐱 **OBSERVE** — Is your pet otherwise eating, playing, and behaving normally?

**See something unusual? Don’t just deworm blindly—talk with your veterinarian about the appropriate examination and treatment.**
