🚫 PAIRINGS YOU SHOULD NOT BREED (Campbell’s)

1️⃣ Mottled × Mottled (or carrier × carrier) ❌
It’s the big rule.

Includes:

mottled × mottled
mottled × collared-from-mottled
solid-from-mottled × solid-from-mottled
➡️ Risk: ~25% lethal pups

2️⃣ Ruby-eyed mottled × ruby-eyed mottled ❌
This combo is especially bad:
higher chance of severe defects
weaker surviving pups
Even some breeders who risk mottled won’t touch this.

3️⃣ Closely related hamsters (inbreeding) ❌
Avoid:
sibling × sibling
parent × child
half-siblings (unless line-breeding by experts with health records)
Risks:
reduced fertility
fading pups
immune weakness
sudden unexplained deaths later
Linebreeding ≠ casual inbreeding.

4️⃣ Campbell × Winter White (hybrid breeding) ❌
Very important.
Results:
diabetes risk
neurological issues
fertility problems
unpredictable temperament
Even if they “look Campbell” — if the line is hybrid, don’t mix further.

5️⃣ Two animals with unknown + risky ancestry ❌
Examples:
both have white but unclear origin
pet-shop stock with no lineage
rescue animals of unknown genetics
Rule:
Unknown + unknown = don’t breed

6️⃣ Two animals with poor health traits ❌
Never breed if BOTH show:
chronic wet tail history
respiratory weakness
seizures
extreme aggression
repeated pregnancy failures
Even if colors are “valuable” — health always wins.
