Walang tinatawag na "princess type," "imperial type," o "teacup sized" na Shih Tzu. Ayon sa AKC (American Kennel Club), UKC (United Kennel Club), at iba pang mga Kennel Club sa buong mundo, ang mga terminong ito ay madalas lang nating marinig, pero ito ay isa lamang MARKETING STRATEGY ng mga breeder at nagbebenta.

Kapag maliit, tinatawag nilang "teacup." Kapag medyo malaki, "imperial type" naman. Kapag humahaba ang balahibo hanggang sa sahig, sasabihin nilang "princess type." Ngunit, HINDI ito totoo. Lahat ng balahibo ng Shih Tzu ay humahaba hanggang sahig o higit pa. Maaaring ginaya lang ng mga seller o breeder ang tawag sa ibang lahi ng a*o na may "teacup," "imperial," o "princess type."

Subalit kung titingnan mo ang PCCI papers, walang nakalagay doon na "princess type," "imperial," o "teacup." Mayroon lamang iisang uri ng Shih Tzu: ang "STANDARD TYPE." Hindi maiiwasan na magkakaiba ang laki ng mga tuta ng Shih Tzu—may mas maliit, may mas malaki. Pero uulitin ko, lahat sila ay "standard" pa rin. Hangga't ang ating Shih Tzu ay hindi bababa sa 7 pulgada ang taas at hindi lalampas ng 11 pulgada, "standard" pa rin ito maliit man o malaki.

Kaya kung gusto mong mag-alaga ng Shih Tzu, anuman ang mapunta sa iyo, basta ito ay pure breed, Shih Tzu pa rin iyon. Mamahalin ka niya anuman ang kanyang laki o hitsura.
