I really enjoyed Milo’s rehabilitation. He did an amazing turnaround after being caged for 6 years. One thing I observed in Milo’s rehabilitation, is that he didn’t start to recognize directions for 8 months of walking 14 km on the same route almost daily. Caging dogs causes brain damage, and it takes time to rewire their neurons… some stereotypic behavior will never be completely changed. I remember he used to get stuck at first at the center of the gate, as if he was still in the cage, even with 1000 square meters behind him. I remember him being overwhelmed by the space. Caging dogs for prolonged periods is torture. This is Milo and Kona having a field trip. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I look kinda cute in a bite suit. 😂 I won’t post the session as I was unable to fully execute my goal as my wrist is still heeling from a fracture, 🤫 don’t show my doctor. That video is only for training friends to get a good laugh. 😂😂😂 I still have more guts than all the trainers/decoys that are scared to work my dog. 😘 Big thanks to the decoys who have worked my dog and encouraged me to suit up! You know who you are! Thank you Pau Usero with Gappay Philippines for the suit! 🙏🏼

A lot of trainers abuse dogs because they think the dog knows what they are being punished for. It’s ok to give corrections, as long as the dog knows how to take the pressure off, the correction is the right pressure for that particular dog, and most of training is enjoyable for the dog. Training is a lot of play with clear boundaries. If the trainer/owner fails to create this balance, the dog won’t be as reliable with training results. Hard punishment, when a dog doesn’t understand, creates an unpredictable punishment scenario which is very damaging compared to predictable and fair punishment.

This is Tyson, we are evaluating him for appropriate placement for Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary, he is not ready for adoption yet but keep an eye out for him as he will eventually be available. He has the sweets for Maleaha! 🥰🐶🐾

Here we are looking for fallen trackers on critically endangered species. I did not have a scent article for trackers so we trailed the animals routes. This was when I asked Ramos to trail deer rather than warty pigs, he was easily able to switch scents using a scent article. His intelligence, and ability to differentiate between scents amazes me. Not all dogs can categorize scent this way and stay focused on the same scent, especially tracking prey animals. This was one of the many times he showed me he was on the right trail. He trails humans like this too! 😉Love this dog! At the end I got stuck in the brush thus momentarily called him back and sent him again after I was untangled. He’s much faster than me. 😂

Change positions (sit, stand, down) at the beach just to see if he will oblige 😂. 🫶🏼 🐶🐕

There are different genetic changes that impact behavior and dogs have been selectively bred for THOUSANDS of years. So, while dogs are not wolves, some dogs will carry different traits from wolves (hunting) or have totally new behaviors (hypersocial behavior) that are not from their distant ancestors due to selective breeding.

The hypersocial behavior in dogs is linked to structural variations (deletions and insertions) in genes located on chromosome 6. Researchers identified variations in genes known as Williams Beuren Syndrome Chromosome Region 17, as well as genes named GTF2I and GTF2IRD1. These genetic variations are in the same region that is deleted in humans with Williams-Beuren syndrome, a condition characterized by high sociability, friendliness, and trusting personalities.

Studies suggest that these mutations reduce fear and aggression, making dogs more comfortable and interactive with humans compared to wolves.
