Many people spend their lives chasing happiness, only to end up disappointed and empty. That’s because happiness was never meant to be the ultimate goal—it is a gift from God that comes when we live according to His design. Scripture reminds us that in God’s presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). When we seek happiness apart from Him, we’re chasing shadows. But when we walk with Him, honor Him, and live according to His will, joy and peace follow—not because we aimed for them, but because we aimed for God.
True happiness is found in living for a purpose greater than ourselves—a purpose rooted in God's calling for our lives. Jesus didn’t live to be happy; He lived to fulfill the Father’s will. And in doing so, He found the deepest joy in obedience, service, and sacrifice. Likewise, a meaningful life is not about comfort, status, or worldly success, but about surrendering to God’s plan and being used by Him to bless others. When we commit our lives to love, serve, and glorify God, we experience the kind of joy that the world can’t give and can never take away (John 15:11).
The goal of life is not the pursuit of happiness, but the pursuit of God and His purpose. When we align our hearts with His, we find fulfillment—and in that fulfillment, happiness naturally flows. Life becomes meaningful when it is lived not just for ourselves but for God and for others. As Jesus said, “Whoever loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 16:25). Seek God first, walk in His purpose, and you will find the kind of joy that doesn’t fade. Happiness is not the goal—God is. And when you have Him, you have everything.
