The microscope plays a vital role in veterinary medicine, serving as a powerful diagnostic tool that allows veterinarians to uncover hidden causes of a pet’s discomfort. In this video, we highlight a striking discovery—Otodectes cynotis, commonly known as ear mites, visibly crawling on a slide sample. Our client came in with a pet suffering from intense pruritus (itching), which had progressed to a severe skin infection near the head.

Suspecting a parasitic cause, Dr. Perez recommended an ear cytology, a decision backed by both clinical signs and years of diagnostic experience. This case reinforces that diagnostic tests are not suggested for profit, but rather as essential steps to either confirm or rule out possible conditions.

Accurate diagnosis is key because in veterinary medicine, there is no one-size-fits-all treatment. Each test brings us closer to the right solution for every individual patient.

If your veterinarian isn’t performing a thorough physical exam or recommending appropriate lab tests during check-ups and vaccinations and is only dispensing medications, you should start asking: Is this truly the right approach for my pet’s health?

đŸŸ Meet Snowy! ❄
This brave 2-month-old pup came to us with a respiratory infection and difficulty breathing but today, he’s breathing better and ready to go home soon! đŸ’Ș

Thanks to a Complete Blood Count (CBC), we discovered elevated eosinophils, which helped us suspect an internal parasite infection. After deworming, roundworms were expelled — a strong reminder of how important regular deworming is, especially in puppies.

As a precaution, we also tested Snowy for canine distemper, and we’re happy to share he tested negative! 🙏

After some rest, Snowy will be ready for his vaccines and a healthier life ahead. Go, little fighter! đŸ¶â€ïž

đŸ„ The Vet Said Confine
 Pero Bakit?

Understanding Why Confinement is Sometimes the Best—and Only—Option for Your Pet

"Napa-confine daw si Oreo."
"Doc, pwede ba pa-uwi na lang? Di ba pwedeng gamot lang muna?"

We hear it a lot.
And we understand where you’re coming from—emotionally and financially.

But when your vet recommends confinement, it’s not a random suggestion. It’s a critical decision based on medical urgency, not convenience.

Let’s explain why:

đŸ¶ 1. Round-the-Clock Monitoring Saves Lives

When your pet is admitted, they are monitored 24/7. Vets and nurses check their vitals, administer medications on schedule, respond to sudden changes, and adjust treatments real-time.
At home, that’s just not possible.

Even one missed sign—like labored breathing or low hemoglobin—can mean life or death.

💉 2. Some Treatments Can’t Be Done at Home

IV fluids, injectable antibiotics, oxygen therapy, syringe feeding, continuous suctioning—these aren't home remedies.
These are hospital-level interventions for critical patients.

Confinement doesn’t mean “pinapahaba lang ang gastos.”
It means “we’re doing everything possible to stabilize your pet.”

📊 3. Observation is Diagnosis in Action

Sometimes we need to observe appetite, urination, defecation, alertness, and progression as they happen.
No blood test or imaging can replace what we see with our own eyes during confinement.
It’s diagnosis unfolding in real time.

💔 4. You Brought Them to Us for Help

And help we will. But it’s hard to treat a patient when we’re only given half a chance.
Many emergencies worsen when pets are discharged too early, or never confined at all—just because the owner was afraid of the cost or “baka ma-stress sa kulungan.”

But here’s the truth: The cage doesn’t harm them. Delayed treatment does.

đŸ«¶ 5. We Want the Same Thing: For Them to Come Home

We don’t recommend confinement lightly. We know it’s a burden—emotionally and financially.
But when we say “admit,” we say it because we’re fighting for a chance.
A chance to control the infection.
A chance to reverse the decline.
A chance to bring your furbaby back to you—tail-wagging, purring, alive.

So if your vet says “Let’s admit your pet
”
Please listen.
It might just be the reason they get to go home at all.

From your local veterinary team who cares—
We’re not just here to treat. We’re here to fight beside you.
One confined life at a time.

To the Pet Owner Who Waited Too Long

A Letter from Your Veterinarian

Out of all the patients we see in our clinic, there are cases we don’t easily forget... đŸ€”

Not because they were rare or complicated, but because they came to us
 too late. ⏰

This letter is for the pet owners who loved deeply
 but hesitated.
Who cared
 but waited.
And in the end, lost someone they couldn’t bear to lose.

This is not a letter of blame.
It is a letter of understanding.
Of reflection.
And we hope, a message that can help prevent future heartbreak.

💔 “Doc, he just got weak today.”

We hear this a lot.

But when we ask deeper questions:

“When did the vomiting start?”

“How long has he refused to eat?”

“When did you first notice the fever?”

The answers are often:
"About three days ago, but we thought he’d get better on his own.”
"We tried giving some human meds first.”
"We searched online and waited to see if it would go away.”

And by then
what was once treatable had already turned critical.

A ₱800 blood test could’ve prevented a ₱30,000 confinement.
A simple deworming could’ve saved a life.
But now we’re fighting to keep vital organs from shutting down.

đŸŸ We Know You Love Them

We see it in how you carry them like a child.
In the way you stroke their head, whispering,
"Please, Doc
 do everything you can."

There’s no doubt you love them.
But sometimes, love needs to show up earlier.

Because in veterinary medicine, time is everything.
And with every delay, their chances get smaller.

đŸ„ Confinement Is Not Punishment. It’s a Chance.

Many owners hesitate when we say their pet needs to be admitted.
Some think it’s just about making money.
Others fear their pet will be lonely or stressed in a cage.
Some want to try home remedies first.

But confinement is not the enemy. Delay is.

We’ve seen pets survive because we had time.
And we’ve lost pets we could’ve saved
 if only they came sooner.

💾 We Understand the Financial Burden

We get it. Vet bills can be difficult.
You have rent to pay, children to feed, other responsibilities.
But please remember:

Preventive care is always more affordable than emergency care.
₱500 today can save you from ₱50,000 tomorrow.
And more than money—what you save is your pet’s life.

đŸ•Šïž If You’ve Already Lost a Pet Because You Waited Too Long...

This letter is not here to shame you.
We know you did what you could, with what you knew, and what you had.
You loved them. You tried. And that still matters.

But maybe now, knowing more
 we can do better.

Maybe your story can save someone else’s.

⏰ Please Don’t Wait Again

If you notice vomiting—come in.
If appetite changes—let’s check.
If you have doubts—ask us.

Don’t wait for labored breathing.
Don’t wait until they collapse.
Don’t wait until your only words are: “Doc, sana naagapan.” (Doc, I wish we caught it early.)

Because when you bring them in early—
You’re not just giving us a patient.
You’re giving us a chance.

And sometimes, that’s all we need to save their life.

From your veterinary team who truly cares—
We’re not just fighting disease.
We’re fighting time.

And every hour you give us matters.

With compassion, honesty, and hope,
—Your Veterinarian

How Much Is a Vet Consultation? The Real Answer Might Surprise You

Why “Tingin Lang” Isn’t What You Think It Is

“Doc, magkano pa-consult?”
“Check-up lang naman, bakit may bayad?”
“Libre ba ang tingin?”

We hear these questions almost every day. And while we understand where they’re coming from, it’s time to clear the air and explain what a veterinary consultation really means—and why it’s one of the most undervalued services in the Philippines.

👀 “Tingin lang” is not just tingin. It’s clinical judgment.

When a vet examines your pet, we’re not just “looking.”
We’re:

Listening to their breathing and heart rate

Assessing hydration status, pain, fever, and weight loss

Interpreting symptoms based on history, environment, and breed predisposition

Considering possible differentials in our head

Forming a treatment plan

That’s not “tingin.”
That’s medical decision-making.

You’re not paying us just to see.
You’re paying us to know what to look for— and what to do next.

💡 What You’re Actually Paying For During a Vet Consult

Let’s break it down:

📚 6 Years of Veterinary Education:
In the Philippines, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is a 6-year program—2 years of pre-vet, and 4 years of core vet medicine subjects, ending with clinical rotations and field work.

🧠 Board Exams + Continuous Learning:
Vets study for years to pass the PRC Veterinary Licensure Exam, and many continue to attend trainings, seminars, and certifications even after.

đŸ©ș Facility Use and Support:
You’re using the clinic, equipment, and the assistance of trained staff.

⏰ Time and Focus:
Whether it’s 10 minutes or 45, your pet is being assessed with full attention, urgency, and professional care.

Just because we’re not doing surgery or bloodwork yet doesn’t mean “walang nangyari.”
Intellectual work is invisible—but it’s the foundation of every successful treatment.

⚖ You Pay for Expertise, Not Just Action

Ever had a mechanic say, “The problem’s just a loose wire”?
Then he charges ₱1,500—not for the 2-minute fix, but for knowing where to look.

Same with vets.
Sometimes the best consults are the ones that prevent unnecessary medication, tests, or worse—complications.

💬 A favorite quote:
“You’re not paying me for 5 minutes. You’re paying me for the 6 years it took to learn what to do in those 5 minutes.”

đŸ‡”đŸ‡ In the Philippine Setting...

We know—it’s common to expect consults to be free, especially in rural areas or low-cost clinics.
But this mindset often overlooks the value behind what seems like a “simple check-up.”

You’re not just paying for a glance.
đŸŸ You’re paying for years of training, the depth of judgment, and the safety of knowing your pet is in qualified hands.

đŸ©ș A Vet Consult Can Save a Life Before It’s in Danger

Sometimes it ends with simple meds.
Sometimes we catch something early—before it becomes a ₱50,000 emergency.

That alone is worth far more than any consultation fee.

Because when you pay for a consult, you're not just buying advice.
You're buying peace of mind.
You're buying prevention.
You're buying time.

🙌 So, How Much Is a Vet Consult Really Worth?

It’s worth every peso it takes to:

✅ Catch a problem early
✅ Avoid unnecessary suffering
✅ Get the right diagnosis and plan
✅ Know that your pet is in capable, educated hands

So next time you ask, “Doc, magkano pa-consult?”
Know that it’s not just a fee.
It’s a small investment in the life of someone you love.

And that?
That’s priceless.

PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ, UNDERSTAND AND COMPREHEND WHAT IS POSTED. YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE READING IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO COMPREHEND.
For God’s sake, People.

Again, during the Holy Week season, our clinic publicly posted the adjusted schedule, clearly stating that there would be no on-call doctor available during certain hours. Our veterinarians are professionals who deserve rest and recovery just like anyone else. They are not robots, and it is both unrealistic and unfair to expect them to be available 24/7.

Knowing that no doctor was on-site at 8:00 AM and understanding the severity of the case, the responsible course of action would have been to seek immediate help from one of the many 24/7 veterinary clinics available in the area. Valuable time was lost waiting, and unfortunately, that delay had irreversible consequences.

Vaccinating and deworming your pets are crucial steps in safeguarding their health and well-being. Vaccinations protect pets from life-threatening diseases such as rabies, distemper, and parvovirus, preventing the spread of these illnesses to other animals and humans. Deworming helps eliminate internal parasites that can cause severe health issues, including malnutrition, organ damage, and even death. Regular vaccinations and deworming not only extend your pet's life but also contribute to a healthier community.

In celebration of our clinic's success, we are thrilled to announce a special giveaway for our loyal clients! We will be selecting ten lucky pet owners who will receive free DHLPPi/Tricat vaccines, Rabies vaccines, and deworming services for their dogs—for life! This is our way of giving back to the community that has supported us and ensuring that your beloved pets stay healthy and protected for years to come. Don't miss this incredible opportunity to secure lifelong care for your furry friend!

All you have to do is like and tag 3 friends who has a pet in the comment section. Winners will be announced 2 weeks after 🎉🎉🎉 Goodluck! đŸ„ł

Today, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Doc Maia and to her friends, a true hero in our community. Recently, Doc Maia found a sweet puppy on the street, suffering from a large, painful wound caused by someone pouring hot water on his delicate skin. Without a moment's hesitation, Doc Maia rescued the puppy and brought him to our clinic. With our expert care and gentle touch, we treated his wound, giving him a chance to heal and live a happy life. Jeje's transformation from a scared, injured puppy to a lively, tail-wagging bundle of joy is a testament to Doc Maia's dedication and compassion. Thank you, Doc Maia and friends, for your unwavering commitment to animal welfare and for giving Jeje the second chance he so deserved.
