During the severe rains and floods, IRO persists in reminding all that animals depend entirely on us, particularly in challenging situations like this. Every moment is crucial, and we encourage all pet owners to take swift steps to protect and ensure the safety of their pets:

❗️GET READY. Be familiar with your evacuation strategy and prepare an emergency kit for your pet. Be sure to understand the methods and locations for safely moving your pets.

❗️BE INGENIOUS. Common items such as laundry baskets or basins can serve as invaluable makeshift carriers.

‼️ If you're unable to evacuate with your pets, PLEASE SET THEM FREE from their cages and chains to improve their chances of survival. Kindly assist any pets that might have gone missing due to the floods to reconnect with their owners and return home.

Remember to remain safe, keep watching over each other, and offer support, empathy, and understanding during these challenging moments

In a quiet alley behind a row of shops, a stray cat named Milo fought every day just to survive. He wasn’t aggressive or loud like the other strays. He was gentle. Often overlooked, often forgotten.

He had no name, no collar, no warm bed. Just the cold concrete beneath him and the constant ache of an empty belly.

That morning, hunger was sharper than ever. Milo hadn’t eaten for two days. His legs trembled. His vision blurred. Then… he found it. A red can—open, discarded. The scent of food lingered inside. Desperate and driven by instinct, he pushed his head into the can, trying to reach the remnants stuck to the bottom.

But the can was deep. And sharp.

His head got stuck.

He panicked, stumbling around the alley, bumping into walls and trash bins, trying to shake it off. But no one was there to help. No one heard his muffled cries. And slowly… the air ran out.

Milo’s body was found hours later inside a cardboard box someone had set aside. A final resting place in a world that never gave him a home. His tail, once full of life, now lay still. The can still gripped his head—his final attempt to fill a stomach that had gone empty for far too long.

And so, a small life ended… not with violence, not with a loud cry, but with silence. With hunger. With neglect.

A reminder that sometimes, all it takes to save a soul is a little food... and a little kindness.

Please, please disregard that vile woman who won't allow us to go out, who kept bringing us to the vet just to hurt us with needles, and who force-fed us gross supplements and medicines. Please focus on us instead.

Yet Another Rescue Story

We spotted this baby in the middle of a busy highway yesterday around 5 PM. It broke my heart that no one else stopped to help, despite the crowd of people around. Had we been just a few seconds later, she might have become another tragic roadkill. 💔

This is a reminder: Please spay and neuter your pets and community strays. Without population control, we’ll only see more of these heartbreaking outcomes, unnecessary deaths, unwanted litter, and increased suffering.

These animals are just trying to survive in a world that’s often harsh to them. If you can, open your heart to these voiceless creatures. They deserve love, safety, and care, too.

This is incredibly frustrating.

As animal rescuers, it’s heartbreaking to see posts like this — vague, with no address, no clear help being given, and worst of all, no real action taken. We pour our time, energy, and limited resources into trying to save lives, but we can’t do anything if all we get is a photo or video with no context.

Please understand that every second matters in an emergency.

If you truly want to help an animal in need, don’t just post it online and walk away. Try to contain the animal. Bring it to a vet if you can. If you can’t afford it, at least stay with the animal or keep it safe until help arrives. Posting isn’t helping if it ends there. Action is.

We kindly ask the community of Brgy 16, Bacolod City to help us find this cat so it can receive the urgent care it truly needs.

To anyone who witnessed this, please come forward. This cat deserves justice and compassion.

UPDATE:

We’ve been searching non-stop for hours all over Brgy 16, but the cat is still nowhere to be found. We’re honestly so worried and frustrated right now. Even the Bacolod City Veterinary Office has been helping us look, but without clear info, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Please, if you see an animal in urgent need, don’t just post online without a location or details. Every minute counts. We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t help if we don’t know where to go.
