YAY, some good news for viajero pets and pet parents!

The Bureau of Animal Industries has extended the validity of Veterinary Health Certificate from three (3) to five (5) days. This is in compliance with Office of The President Memorandum Circular No. 114.

Validity of the Health Certificates includes weekends and Holidays.

For your health certificates for your pet's travel, please message us. Make sure their Anti-Rabies Vaccinations are updated two weeks prior to travel.

Counting duration of validity of VHCs shall include Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.

Hello, I'm Hela!

Last Good Friday, I became so sick and I barely moved because I was feeling a little pain in my stomach area. Around Black Saturday, my fur mom noticed some discharges coming out from my flower. She looked up, and I could possibly have open type pyometra. My Mom tried to contact every available surgeon in the city, unfortunately all were out. Around Easter Monday morning, I was brought to VPHAC, then they scheduled my surgery immediately in the afternoon.

Thank you VPHAC Team for saving me! They were even still closing me up while there was an earthquake. Talk about dedication!

Veterinarian's Notes:
- Pyometra is a condition where there is pus (or nana) accumulated inside the uterus shortly after having their heat cycle. It has two types: Open Type (Where you can see pus or discharges passing through their reproductive opening) and Close Type.
- Signs and symptoms include: Lethargy (nagluya), loss of appetite (way gana mo kaon) and distended belly (modako ang tiyan).
- Intact female dogs and cats are all at risk of having this condition in their lifetime.
- Ovariohysterectomy or Spaying is the only way to prevent and treat this life threatening condition.

UPDATE ON THE PUPPIES

Unfortunately, all remaining puppies have crossed the rainbow bridge. We tried our best to give them the best care they deserve. They were way too young to be away from their mother.

Just this morning, we discovered seven (7) days old puppies left outside the clinic premises. Four puppies are found alive; 3 were either dead or barely alive with punctured wounds.

We have filed an Incident Report to Cebu City (Labangon) Police Station 10 as whoever is responsible for this clearly violated Section 7 of Republic Act 10631 or the Revised Animal Welfare Law that stated, "It shall be unlawful for any person who has custody of an animal to abandon the animal."

We are currently reviewing CCTV Footages from the clinic, police station and the barangay.

As for the puppies, we will be burying the dead ones and take care of those that are still alive while looking for fosters. The puppies are at risk of getting infectious diseases while they are in the clinic.

Please be responsible pet owners. Have your dogs neutered or spayed if you don't want unwanted pregnancies.

Also Pet Abandonment is a CRIME.

Have you had your dogs and cats updated, and in the case of puppies and kittens, have completed their core vaccinations? If not, may the photo remind you that completing and updating their Core Vaccinations (The DHL4PPi (8in1) Vaccine for dogs; Cat Core (4in1) Vaccine for cats) is a MUST.

The dog that was tested positive for Distemper was already vaccinated against the virus when it was still a puppy. Unfortunately, its fur parent forgot to annually update it. Thus, he got infected.

The old medical adage, "PREVENTION is BETTER than CURE" still rings true even to animals.

PRICE INCREASE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Starting April 6, 2026, there will be an increase in surgical and laboratory services, and newer stocks of medicines and vitamins. We will also be charging PhP 5.00 per syringe when you purchase suspension/liquid medicines with us.

But rest assured, the rates for our vaccinations, deworming and tick and flea medicines are still the same.
