🦠 Mpox in Animals: What You Should Know

Though rare, humans can pass mpox to pets through close contact like cuddling, kissing, or sharing beds and food.

Mpox can infect many mammals—like monkeys, squirrels, prairie dogs, hedgehogs, and shrews, especially in West and Central Africa.

We're still learning, but reptiles, amphibians, and birds are unlikely to be at risk.

⚠️ Not all infected animals show rashes.

Mpox can spread both ways—from people to animals and vice versa through close contact.

🐾 Stay alert. If your pet may have been exposed or shows symptoms, call us right away.
