Wheels are a must for every hedgehog. It is an essential, a need. Sadly, it is something that most setups locally lack. In the wild, they can run for miles at night in search for food while also burning their excess calories. Have you noticed your hogs walking around in circles for minutes every day? Making havoc inside their cage? They're bored and trying to burn all of their energy. They are stressed. In captivation, they lack space, stimulation, and exercise. That is why wheels are so important. They provide hours of enjoyment within the confinement of their cage. If your hedgehog doesn’t already have a wheel, get them one. What if you were trapped within 4 walls with nothing to do?
Our hedgehogs run like this ALL night. Only stopping for a quick meal.
