This is going to make your heart explode π
The Siberian flying squirrel is basically a real-life Pokemon with massive black eyes, fluffy grey fur, and a tiny pink nose.
They weigh about as much as your phone, have these skin flaps that let them glide over 100 meters between trees, and spend their nights munching on berries and seeds in the forests of northern Asia and Japan.
But here's the heartbreaking part: these little guys are disappearing from Europe because of habitat loss. They're already gone from Lithuania and Belarus had none until they randomly showed up again in the forests.
The only places left in Europe to see them are Finland and Estonia, where they hide in old woodpecker holes and leave behind droppings that look like golden rice grains.
Nature really said "let's make the cutest thing possible" and then made it endangered.
