- Weight is evenly distributed across all four legs.
- Facial muscles are relaxed, and the open mouth forms a 'smile.'
- Ears fall naturally.
- Pupils appear small.
SOME PAIN (Orange)
- The animal is less interactive, and the tail is held down.
- It sits with a hind leg extended, a common indicator of hindlimb osteoarthritis.
- Facial muscles are tense.
- Ears are pulled down against the head.
- Pupils are larger than normal.
SEVERE PAIN (Red)
- The animal is withdrawn, with its tail pulled close to the body.
- A hind limb is outstretched.
- Body and facial muscles are tense.
- Ears are pulled down and forward.
