A heartfelt kudos and congratulations to our Carcar City Barangay Animal Health Aides (BAHAs) in recognition of your dedication, commitment, and invaluable service as our grassroots partners in safeguarding animal health, supporting livestock and poultry development, promoting disease prevention, and strengthening food security in the Province of Cebu.

Your volunteerism, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to disease surveillance and community-based animal health programs play a vital role in protecting our farmers, livestock and poultry raisers, and the entire community. Through your presence and active participation at the barangay level, you help ensure the early detection and prevention of animal diseases, encourage responsible animal ownership and production practices, and contribute to a healthier and more resilient agricultural sector.

Indeed, a successful, meaningful, and productive African Swine Fever (ASF) Information Caravan with the theme "May Magagawa Ako!”

This meaningful initiative brought together our collective efforts in strengthening awareness, preparedness, prevention, and response against ASF. Through collaboration, information sharing, and active participation, we are reminded that everyone has a role to play in protecting our swine industry and securing the livelihood of our hog raisers.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the City Government of Carcar in coordination with the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), Cebu Provincial Government, and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) for making this important activity possible.

Special thanks to our ever-supportive City Mayor, Hon. Patrick Paras Barcenas , and the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Carcar headed by our Vice Mayor, Hon. Perkins Barcenas De Dios for their unwavering support and commitment to programs that promote the welfare of our farmers and the protection of our livestock industry.

A big thank you as well to all our resource speakers, partner agencies, barangay officials, livestock raisers, farmers’ associations, stakeholders, and participants who shared their time, knowledge, and commitment.

May Magagawa Ako!- because preventing ASF is not the responsibility of one person or one agency alone. It is a shared responsibility, and together, we can make a difference.

Looking forward to more meaningful partnerships, stronger collaboration, and collective action as we continue our mission to prevent and control ASF and build a more resilient and sustainable swine industry in the City of Carcar.

Together, let us protect our pigs, support our farmers, and keep Carcar ASF-free

Partnership for Meat and Food Safety at Carcar City Public Market

The local government and market administration recently met with the meat stall and lechon holders of Carcar City Public Market for an essential briefing on Meat and Food Safety Updates and African Swine Fever Virus (ASF) Biosecurity Protocols.

As protectors of Carcar's famous culinary heritage, our vendors are fully aligned on:
* Enforcing strict cleanliness and hygiene in daily operations
* Verification of safe, legal meat sources
* Staying updated on ASF prevention rules to safeguard our local industry

We assure the public that the pork and lechon in our public market are clean, safe and strictly monitored.

Biosecurity is the Key to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF)

African Swine Fever (ASF) is a highly contagious disease that threatens our swine industry and the livelihood of every hog raiser. While there is no cure, strong biosecurity practices are our best defense.

1. Restrict unnecessary visitors
2. Disinfect vehicles, equipment and footwear
3. Isolate newly acquired pigs before introducing them to the herd
4. Never feed pigs with untreated food waste.
5. Report any unusual illness or sudden pig death immediately

Protect your pigs. Protect your livelihood.

To all Swine raisers, biosecurity start with you. Together let's prevent the spread of ASF and keep our swine industry safe and resilient.
