Demodex mites revealed!

Today we had a dog patient who came in with skin problems and hair loss. After performing a skin scraping test, we discovered something interesting under the microscope…

👉 Demodex mites

These tiny mites cause a condition called Demodicosis.

📌 Did you know?
Demodex mites are actually normally present in small numbers on dogs’ skin. However, when a dog’s immune system becomes weak, these mites can multiply rapidly and cause skin disease.

⚠️ Common signs of Demodicosis:
• Hair loss (especially around the face, eyes, or legs)
• Red or inflamed skin
• Scaly or crusty patches
• Secondary skin infections
• Sometimes itching

🩺 The good news:
With proper veterinary treatment and monitoring, most dogs recover very well!

🚨 Reminder to pet owners:
If your dog has unexplained hair loss or skin lesions, do not ignore it. Early diagnosis through skin scraping and microscopy helps us treat the problem faster and prevent it from worsening.
