Don’t Feed Your Koi During Heavy Rain or Typhoon! 🌧️🐟

Many people don’t realize this — but feeding your koi during a storm can actually be dangerous for them.

Here’s why:

🌬️ When it rains hard or there’s a typhoon, oxygen in the water goes down.
Koi need oxygen to digest their food. If there’s not enough, they can get stressed or sick.

⚡ Power might go out, and filters or aerators can stop working.
That means leftover food and fish waste will stay in the water, and that can cause dirty water, high ammonia, and health problems.

⏱️ So what should you do?

✔️ Stop feeding your koi 1-2 days before the storm.
✔️ Don’t feed during the rain or typhoon.
✔️ Wait until the weather is better and your pond water is clear again.
✔️ Test the water if you can (pH, ammonia, etc.) before feeding again.

🐠 When you start feeding again, give small amounts that your koi can finish in 3–5 minutes. Use easy-to-digest food like wheat germ pellets if possible.

Your koi can survive without food for a few days — but feeding them at the wrong time can make them very sick.
