Happy, happy 9th birthday to our beloved Scarlet Overkill! 🎉🎂🎈🥳

Here are 9 things you should know about this lovey-dovey goofball:

🎾 She loves to cuddle, snuggle under your armpits, or rest her head on your lap.
🎾 She enjoys a fun game of tug.
🎾 She can chew a large cow ear in ~30 minutes.
🎾 She has an insane metabolism. She’s 9 and still slender. She can put FHM models to shame.
🎾She got into two pretty bad scuffles with cats, and lost. 🥲
🎾 She’s super easy to give oral medication. I’d like to think she even looks forward to it.
🎾 She barks, lunges, and growls at cats and small children, especially when they’re loud and fiesty.
🎾 She goes on evening walks with Corgdad. She wears a bright orange Balance harness and uses their multi-way leash.
🎾 She’s the only Doberman I’ll ever love in my life. God blessed us with a beautiful, imperfect, and protective girl.

Hi dog guardians! 👋🐾 It’s been a long, long while since I’ve been around, so I wanted to return with some very exciting news: Scarlet’s breed reveal! 🎊

Since completing my first DNA test on Sappho, I promised Scarlet I’d do a second test to find out more about who she is as an individual. I got the same Embark breed and health test kit, and I was SHOOKED when I saw the results. Swipe left to discover how Scarlet is made up of THREE dog breeds. 😮🤯

It’s amazing how technology like this has become accessible to a certain degree, so we have the opportunity to find out more about our dog’s genetic background. I’m so thankful that I finally got to know who Scarlet is and how she was lovingly made nine years ago. 🥰

Did her results surprise you too? It sure made me gasp and shout out of nowhere. 😂

Happy Monday, dog guardians! 🐾 I hope your Monday’s off to a good start, because ours took flight with Sappho doing so well at her annual checkup, and my seeing the Diwa Dogs flyer at our family vet’s clinic. 😍

My vet and I have a close relationship, and this gives us both the edge we need in the animal health and behavior industry. Health issues can affect your dog’s behavior, so it’s crucial for me to provide my clients in Cagayan de Oro city with support for their dogs’ health and wellness through my trusted vets.

Doggy Talks 2025 was a success! We hosted about 13 dog guardians and attendees yesterday at August Cafe where I shared what enrichment is, why it's beneficial for both the dog and the human family, the downsides to putting our dogs' needs in the back burner, and examples of enrichment activities we can do at home to improve our dogs' lives with us. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who attended and who're open to working with a professional R+ trainer for their dogs' behavior. It means so much to see how you care deeply about your learners, and that you'd like to learn how to meet your dogs' needs.

It’s official! Diwa Dogs’ first local event is happening on January 25, 2025 at here in Cagayan de Oro city.

I’m so stoked to have dog-loving folks in the city bring their dogs to have good coffee ☕ and learn 📚 how to improve their companions’ wellbeing.

This first session’s all about enrichment—what it is, why it’s important for your dog, why it’s important for the humans, and examples of easy enrichment activities you can give to your dog. If this is something new and you’re excited about the idea that it can improve your dog’s quality of life with you, send a DM with the word “enrichment” here on Instagram or Facebook, and I’ll send the details! 🐶

Dog behavior, and the training industry as a whole, wouldn't achieve all this progress without Karen Pryor and her work to help bridge the wide gap between humans and animals.
