🐾 The stray animal crisis in Boracay has reached a heartbreaking point.
The local government has renewed efforts to round up stray dogs and cats. Animals that are not claimed from the municipal pound are euthanized. Sadly, many are never claimed because their owners cannot afford the fines, cannot take time off work, or have abandoned them.
If you’ve ever seen the faces of these dogs and cats as they’re being caught, you know how heartbreaking it is. Many are healthy, gentle animals whose lives could have been very different.
The most humane and effective way to reduce the stray population is through spaying and neutering.
That is exactly what Vet Mission Boracay has been doing for years.
Organized by dedicated animal-loving residents of Boracay together with partner veterinary organizations, Vet Mission Boracay provides FREE spay and neuter surgeries, anti-rabies vaccinations, and deworming to hundreds of dogs and cats every year.
From August 31 – September 3, 2026, 41 volunteer veterinarians and veterinary assistants will donate their time and expertise to provide free veterinary care across Boracay and mainland Malay. Their partner veterinary organizations also generously provide most of the medicines, medical supplies, and flights needed to make the mission possible.
To complete this year’s mission, Vet Mission Boracay is raising ₱150,000 to cover additional medicines, medical supplies, volunteer refreshments, and other essential mission expenses.
