13 Municipalities of Benguet and Their Descriptions
1. La Trinidad (Capital)
Known for its vast strawberry farms and cool valley climate. It’s the administrative and commercial center of Benguet home to the Strawberry Farm, the Valley of Colors, and Benguet State University.
2. Itogon
A historic mining town with large mining communities (Philex, Benguet Corporation). Itogon features rugged mountains, hot springs, river systems, and is the gateway to Mt. Ugo.
3. Tuba
The "Gateway to Baguio" from the lowlands. It hosts several major tourist sites including Mount Sto. Tomas, Asin Hot Springs, the BenCab Museum area, and the Kennon Road View Deck.
4. Tublay
A quiet highland farming municipality known for citrus farms, eco-parks, and natural attractions like cliffside view decks and caves. Perfect for eco-tourism and organic agriculture.
5. Kapangan
A municipality rich in waterfalls, mountains, and cultural heritage. Known for the majestic Badi Falls and as a prime destination for nature adventures and community-based tourism.
6. Kibungan
Often called the “Switzerland of Benguet” because of its steep, dramatic mountain ranges. Famous for trekking trails, mossy forests, and stone-walled rice terraces.
7. Bakun
Another adventure paradise with its “Bakun Trio” of mountains: Mt. Kabunian, Mt. Tenglawan, and Mt. Lubo. The municipality is known for hanging gardens, ancestral domains, and crystal-clear rivers.
8. Buguias
One of the top producers of highland vegetables in the country. Known for commercial farming, cool climate, and the presence of the legendary Apo Anno burial site.
9. Mankayan
A major mining municipality (Lepanto) with a long history of copper and gold production. Also features highland vegetable farms and scenic mountain roads along the Cordillera.
10. Atok
A cold, foggy municipality famous for the Northern Blossom Flower Farm, the Haight’s Place flower fields, Halsema Viewpoint, and some of the coldest recorded temperatures in the Philippines.
11. Bokod
Home to the Ambuklao Dam and vast pine forests. Bokod is known for peaceful lakeside scenery, eco-tourism, and river systems ideal for rafting and camping.
12. Kabayan
A culturally significant municipality famous for the Ibaloy mummies (Kabayan Mummy Caves), Lake Tabeo, and Mount Pulag, Luzon’s highest peak with its iconic sea of clouds.
13. Sablan
Often called the “Fruit Basket of Benguet” due to its warm lowland climate suitable for bananas, pineapples, and tropical fruits. Known for roadside fruit markets along the highway to La Union.
