Why keeping your cat indoors is better than letting them roam outdoors?
1. Indoor cats can live longer. Cats are known to be very curious just like the famous proverb โCuriosity killed the catโ. Cats are prone to accident specially when youโre living in a city. Because of their playful behavior, they might cross the street and hit by a car, climb heights or engage with cat fights etc. Cats are also prone to poisoning because of curiosity, they might ingest something like toxic plants and chemicals.
2. Protecting the wildlife. Cats are naturally born hunters and they might kill small animals like birds and rodents. Keeping your cats indoor is also protecting them from predators.
3. Keeping them safe from viral diseases. Having your cats vaccinated is a good start of protecting them against viral diseases that are mostly fatal, but thereโs still chance that they might get it from outdoors or stray cats.
4. Population control. Having them spayed and neutered is the best way to control the population of cats. But an alternative way is also keeping them indoors to prevent them with having interaction with other cats that might carry contagious viruses/diseases.
Keeping them indoors is keeping them safe. Just make sure that they have enough space to play and exercise!
