Bunny CafĂ© was born from a dreamâand from grief, love, and resilience. Its founder, Michael Carl Oligo, a proud Bacolodnon, once worked in South Korea where he encountered the concept of rabbit cafĂ©sâquaint spaces where people could enjoy a drink while bonding with adorable bunnies. Inspired by this unique idea and driven by a love for animals, Michael brought the concept back home to the Philippi
nes. Michaelâs family is known for raising award-winning rabbits, and their bond with these animals wasnât just for businessâit was personal and healing. With that foundation, Michael took a leap of faith and opened MMâs Bunny CafĂ© in 2017âthe very first rabbit-themed cafĂ© in the Philippines.
đĄ The First Location â #42 Ramylu Drive, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City
The first cafĂ© opened with just three tables and a few bunnies, yet the response was overwhelming. People were curious, excited, and delighted. In just five months, business boomed. But then, a tragedy changed everything. Michael lost his younger brotherâthe very person who helped him build the cafĂ© from the ground up. His best friend, business partner, and greatest supporter was gone. Out of deep mourning, MMâs Bunny CafĂ© closed for two months. Trying to pick up the pieces, Michael reopened the cafĂ©. But before he could regain his footing, the road-widening project across the country reached their location, and half the cafĂ© was demolished. It was heartbreaking. It felt like the dream was slipping away again. But God did not abandon him. Just two months later, Barangay Captain Noli Villarosa offered Michael a new location: a spot right beside the Brgy. Hall of Tangub.
đĄ The Second Location â Beside Tangub Barangay Hall
This location became a blessing. Located at the heart of the barangay, MMâs Bunny CafĂ© gained more visibility and became the first-ever cafĂ© in Brgy. Tangub. Just as things were looking up, COVID-19 happened. The cafĂ© shut down again for over two months. When it reopened, it faced a new issue: its storefront was hidden by sidewalk vendors. The once-beautiful and inviting front was covered by fish, vegetables, and clutter. The surroundings became toxicânot just physically but emotionally. Michael, overwhelmed by the stress and the tension with officials, knew he had to move again. It was time for another leap.
đĄ The Third Location â Kalayaan Hi-way Dormitel, Tangub
The new space was larger, brighter, and had a proper parking area. It was the perfect reset. Michael even rebranded the name from MM's Bunny Cafe to Mr. Bunny Cafeâuntil another painful trial hit. The cafĂ© was broken into. Michaelâs Shih Tzu, important equipment, and almost â±30,000 in earnings were stolen. He was devastated. The place that was his work and home no longer felt safe. But even in heartbreak, Michael believed in bouncing back.
đĄ The Fourth Location â Bangga Cegasco, Brgy. Pahanocoy
In October 2024, the cafĂ© reopened at a temporary location in Brgy. Pahanocoy. It was small, far from home, and the operations were difficult. Even before the cafĂ© officially closed in February 2025, Michael was already battling anxiety and depression. Despite the struggles, he refused to give up. His dream, like a bunny, needed to hop againâto a new and healthier place.
đĄ The Fifth Location â Bangga Rusi, Brgy. Tangub (Current)
On March 17, 2025, Mr. Bunny CafĂ© opened again at its fifth and current location, beside RUSI Motors, Bangga Rusi, Brgy. Here, Michael personally fixed the interiors, making it a cozy, calming placeânot just for customers, but for his own mental wellness. It may be smaller, but it feels safe, close to home, and full of hope.
