Emergency Cesarean Section

Nicki was rushed to the clinic due to difficulty giving birth. During physical exam, a malpositioned puppy was found stuck in the birth canal. No contractions were noted, this indicates uterine inertia. Lochial discharges oozed. Ultrasound exam revealed other alive puppies. STAT C section was then performed.

There were seven in her litter. Five are healthy puppies and the other two did not make it.

🐇Rabbit Mange

🐰Mange in rabbits is a skin disease caused by mite infestation. Mites may come from direct contact with other affected animal, from the environment or contaminated objects like cage or beddings. It causes intense itching, alopecia, pyoderma, and crust formation on ears, nose, face and paws. In prolonged illness, the animal become emaciated and may even die due to cachexia.

⚕️💊💉Treatment can be an oral acaricide, spot-on or injectable. Treatment may last up to more than a month. Once initiated, improvement can be seen between the first and second week of medication. In severe cases, your vet might give other remedy for secondary bacterial infection and some supplements.

📞🩺If you notice any sign of the mange contact your local vet, they can help you diagnose, treat and prevent the spread of the disease.
