Silent Labor: A Life-Threatening Emergency 🐾

Not every labor is obvious.

According to the owner, there were no noticeable signs of active labor. However, a greenish, foul-smelling vaginal discharge was observed—a serious warning sign that should never be ignored.

Upon arrival at our clinic, the mother was lethargic, in severe pain, and had very pale gums, indicating a critical condition.

Emergency surgery revealed four deceased puppies inside the uterus. The uterus had already become severely infected and necrotic (gangrenous), making it impossible to preserve. An emergency ovariohysterectomy (spay) was necessary to remove the infected uterus and save the mother’s life.

She is now recovering under close monitoring.

⚠️ A green, foul-smelling vaginal discharge in a pregnant dog is a veterinary emergency, even if there are no obvious signs of labor. Delaying treatment can lead to severe infection, septic shock, and can be fatal.

Early recognition and immediate veterinary intervention can save lives. 🐾❤️

Another life saved. 🩺❤️
A successful pyometra surgery and one brave patient on the road to recovery. From being lethargic, unresponsive, and in pain to becoming active and eating well again. Moments like these remind us why early diagnosis and timely treatment are so important.

One of those days that reminds me why I became a veterinarian. 🩺🐾

Today, we successfully removed a massive 4.25 kg pyometra from a dog. Seeing an infected uterus this large is both shocking and heartbreaking, but it also reminds me how important early detection and preventive care are.

Every surgery carries risks, every patient has a story, and every life saved makes the long hours worth it. Grateful for the trust of pet owners and for another patient given a second chance at life. ❤️

To all fur parents: if your unspayed female dog shows signs of vaginal discharge, loss of appetite, lethargy, increased drinking, or abdominal enlargement, please seek veterinary care immediately. Pyometra is an emergency.

Today was exhausting, but moments like this make it all worthwhile.
