HEARTWORM IS REAL 🐶🫀🦟

Did you know that a simple mosquito bite can put your dog at risk for heartworm disease?

We recently had a heartworm-positive case in a 5-year-old dog at our clinic. This serves as an important reminder that heartworm disease is present and can affect dogs of any age.

Heartworm disease may be uncommon in our area, but it does happen here in Luzon. The scary part? Many infected dogs show few or no signs until the disease has already progressed.

⚠️ Watch out for:
• Persistent coughing
• Easily getting tired after activity
• Difficulty breathing
• Weight loss
• Reduced appetite
• Decreased energy
• Enlarged abdomen (ascites or fluid buildup in the belly)

Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes and can cause serious damage to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels.
